The principle is that AML aren't taking the risk but are transferring that risk to the next owner(s), some of whom will not even know that it has been a factory/press car.
You'd be surprised. I was watching 2 V12VSs going through auction last week... both KN number plates. Hammer's dropped early £80s. Bit of digging (Googling the number plates) found they had been for sale at Aston main dealers for well over 6 months, one at £98 ish, the other at £102... one also generated some links to press work. While I'm only assuming, it does look like maybe they were difficult to shift because of their past, hence why the dealer off-loaded them at auction.
Can I be the ref. ?
Pete is inferring that some drivers will push someone else's car more than their own, and that future owners might not buy, if they knew that history.
I expect we have all seen the videos, when reviewers are drifting Aston Martins, or pushing to the limits on track (think ceramic brake life perhaps, as just the start of additional wear items).
Beefy is saying that we do not know whether an engine has exceeded 3,000 rpm whilst cold.
My verdict is - both of you are correct.

Then this car used by Clarkson in Top Gear must be worthless. Oh hang on While I'm only assuming, it does look like maybe they were difficult to shift because of their past, hence why the dealer off-loaded them at auction.
We have 3 spaces left reserved for GT8 (and GT12s) at the upcoming Goodwood Saywell Charity Track Day on the 21st of October.
If you'd like to join the convoy (from London), via Surrey, to Goodwood please let me know here or email (AstonMartinGT.owners@gmail.com). We have already 6-7 cars attending and it would be great too meet up/going for lunch together aftterwards!

Not want to drag up too much the pre-owned part of this thread but I have a KX 4.7 and was told by Works from the outset it was a Ex-AML owned car. Didn't concern me and apparently mine did some interior work validation then was checked over and passed onto its 1st owner and I'm now the 2nd. Apart from TPMS going tits up (normal) and a sticking pax mirror it's been faultless. Never been concerned it's been "thrashed" allegedly or some journalist has deposited a few Maccy D's wrappers in it. That's what my warranty was for until I was happy with it and let it lapse......touch wood!!
