The GT8! Carbon fibre bodied £200K 440BHP 7 Speed V8.
Discussion
if the EVO gang brought a Vantage here ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJvK_KuVxkk ), again, there is a reason. Sometimes it takes time for people to fully appreciate a piece of art of the past. This is a slow but ongoing process which will likely gather momentum as the next tech cycle kicks-in (self-driving sport-cars fully-loaded with electric motors, anyone?)

Looks like the GT8 is also in the Autocar car of the year (going to be out this week). It won't win but simply being in there is a great achievement
Yes, page 44 says it all about their love affair otherwise go to page 56 to read about the (politically correct-) "wife" they picked...Shmee said:
Does that width come from wider panels, or from protruding side sills?
Wider body panels and track, as per Autocar: "The GT8 also shares the widened axle tracks of the GT12, up on the standard Vantage by 34mm at the front and 54mm at the rear"http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/aston-martin/v...
That's effectively how they achieving the cut-out affect behind the front wheel arches - the track is actually wider at that point, as I believe are the tires compared with the standard vantage.
The cut-out then brings the wing back in such that I would guess that the "waist" of the car must be pretty close to the same width as the normal vantage. And then wider again at the rear track.
As well making the car look more muscular (think DBS vs DB9) I would imagine that wider track presumably brings some improvement to the handling characteristics?
No idea about the aerodynamic benefits of the cut-out itself, would imagine those are minimal/non-existent at non-track speeds

Had a fantastic day at Gaydon seeing Vantage GT8 8/150 being born / built. I have done the tour many times now and the buzz around the factory floor was amazing. GT8s, DB11s and a few other special cars including the last DB9 GT Volante.. It's the first time I have ever designed a car like this, gone through the do I / don't I add this to it? This thread has helped me no end so thanks to all that have shared their thoughts on the thread / on personal email / out at Cambridge ( saw your car Will a few days after your visit and it looked fantastic) / at Burghley discussing specs next to a GT8. Even the sarccy put downs are welcome! Well nearly.....
I got a call yesterday to say mine is finished being built just off the rolling road tests and should be in the first batch released. I think I counted 10 going round all different and unique in their own special way. So the clock is ticking on collection the man maths planets have all lined up and the solution has landed.
Apologies a couple of the pics are drunk!

A GT8 has just been delivered in the Stirling green halo scheme and it seems like, having just seen an instagram post, it has been sent straight to The Octane Collection in Guildford!! I presume it will be going up for sale but there are no details on their website just yet
That news pisses me off.RobDown said:
Agreed. Unless financial difficulties are forcing the sale.
If financial difficulties are forcing the sale, it's quite simple - you call your dealer and say "terribly embarrassing dear boy, but I'm in a spot of bother at the moment. Could you be awfully kind and cancel my order and refund me my £20,000 deposit please?"Or, you agree to sell it back to / via them. If there's £100k profit, you split it with them 50/50. It's the very least you can do to show them your gratitude for receiving one of the few U.K. allocations!
Apologies if my tone is quite direct, but I reckon there's a good chance the owner is reading this.
On a more cheery note, is there a way someone on Instabook can link the photos? Can't wait to see how the spec looks in the flesh!
