Dealer scratched my car
Discussion
Just think about all the times that dealers have tried to have us over, what with things that "might" not need doing at that point, but "sir, they will need doing before the next service so should be done now". They're quick enough to try and justify taking money out of our pockets.
I'm sorry but if I took a car to a dealer (any car that is) and whilst there it was damaged, then I wouldn't care who, how or anything else, I want it fixed and fixed properly. Lets put it this way.....if the dealer had lent you a car for the weekend and you returned it with that damage on, you can bet you arse they wouldn't be talking about smart repairs, that would be a bodyshop thing all day long in their eyes.
The fact that they didn't even own up to doing it would just strengthen my resolve to make them spray it.
You bend it you mend it has always been my motto

Along these lines, I can offer you the following gems from the same AM Dealer:I'm sorry but if I took a car to a dealer (any car that is) and whilst there it was damaged, then I wouldn't care who, how or anything else, I want it fixed and fixed properly. - Oil leak from front chest and separator, £3,000 to fix
This is a known issue which I got fixed by a friendly garage with a new £1.27 O-ring
- Handbrake lever had come off, asked £630 to replace handbrake unit
Friendly garage glued it back in place FOC
- ABS wheel speed sensor wiring split, asked £655 to fix
Got a quote of £226.88 from another dealer, AM happily matched it (1/3 of their original quote!)
I have been patient with them but never allowed them to rip me off. I have always beaten them down on price, used other dealers/indies on stuff like brakes, and refused to let them do work which I thought was misdiagnosed.
I did waste a lot of time and sweat, though, that I did.
The dealer is in Central London...

Agree to the smart repair on the grounds that if you're not happy you will require a full spray.
Some smart repairs >can< be very good.

Had the bumper on M135i done 30k miles ago and its holding up very well, cost me £130 rather than £500 for bumper respray from the dealer.
