I'm looking at DB9s in the classifieds and seeing a surprising number of cars with either black or Iron Ore leather.

In the pictures black just kills the interior styling (especially on early cars), making it look very dull, and Iron Ore just seems hideous.

Do they look better in the flesh? At the moment I'm dismissing otherwise good cars on the assumption I wouldn't be able to live with the interior colour.

Is this perhaps more your style?

Just have to be patient. I wanted a rare exterior colour, and had to wait over a year. I did find it though. At least now with the internet to help, special requirements are easier to find.

It's playing safe I guess and / or boring even but I wanted black or grey - there were some colours I liked but thought I might go off over time? I agree though, I don't like iron ore either! No offence to those who have it.

Still pleased with my choice...

Best bet is to go and see as many combinations as you can?

Hi

I have iron ore and I love it, unfortunately it doesn't look good on photo,s unless professionally done!

See one in the flesh and then decide.

I thought exactly the same thing, didn't want something too dull and sombre, luckily this turned up at exactly the right time, chancellor red.

Black actually works very well, particularly with the piano black veneer. It is just classy.

Iron Ore looks much better in real life and works well on a silver car.

As others have said, go and see a few in the flesh. Colour combinations are a very individual matter. I wanted a silver/grey exterior with black/black interior (probably subconsciously due to the Bond cars - I was originally going for the DBS - but to me that is how it had to be). Others prefer to stand out from the (very small) crowd and express their individuality.

If I ever get a V12 Vantage I would love to go all out with the full blue and orange Gulf wrap. Horses for courses smile

Much better.

Aston interiors always look a bit jarring/forced in non-black to my eyes. They don't quite work (though there are a few exceptions).

Ferrari interiors look great in creams/tans, but Astons just don't seem to gel.

I had black & chancellor red in my old V8V.
Loved it! That said I much prefer a black steering wheel.

I've had various interiors on other cars including reds and creams but for me in the vantage it had to be black, although the white stitching does lift it

Agree.

I think those panels (seat centres and door cards) can look great in different colours (I like the red ones), even on Astons. But would leave differentiation there.

Now have them on my replacement (non-Aston), I'd always be happy to find any car with alcantara inserts too.

Totally agree (think my old car had silver coarse stitching)

Personally I like the black especially with a Silver exterior. The photos do wash the colour out and it looks much better in the flesh. I had wood and Ivory in my old Jaguar XKR but think it now dates the car.

Sandstorm? Very nice. Could do with a bit of contrast stitching though I reckon smile

Update: So now I'm seriously looking for a car and almost everything is black with a black interior.

If anyone has a low-mileage 2009MY DB9 in Meteorite Silver with Sandstorm or Sahara leather (B&O would be nice too) and was thinking of trading it in to an Aston main dealer for a DB11 or something, now would be a good time :-D

In all honesty I prefer Neils to that in my DB9! BUT image below doesn't really do TAN justice, in real life doesn't look that that orange!
