It may well have been lack of thought with the first models but I'm sure if they were taking notice of warranty claims and parts supplies they would quickly see there was something wrong with either design or manufacturer and take it up with the supplier to modify/ improve quality. Or maybe they don't work to continuous quality improvement?

Personally I think it's disgraceful that AM have allowed this to continue. Totally unacceptable in my opinion.
Totally agree with you. There are many areas on their cars that suffer the same (poor paintwork being probably the single biggest "technical" reason why I sold mine in the end.

I guess redesigning parts on the numbers sold would have been more costly than the cost of stumping up warranty money (note most seem to fail after warranty has expired. Job Jobbed from their perspective).

Yup but it's such a short sighted approach as it can damage the reputation of the brand in terms of reliability and cost of ownership.

I hope Andy Palmer has a more strategic view of this.

Has anyone managed to fix this themselves - ie take apart and re-solder ?

I removed the unit and sent it to IER in Letchworth. Total repair cost was just shy of £400.

I’m dreading mine going. Seems like it’s inevitable. AM should accept there’s a design flaw/fault and recall the items!

Very tempted to fit these the next time mine go wrong, could match the sequential rear lights available.

Hi Lee, afraid I don't, but they're a small friendly bunch so if Matt isn't there, I'm sure it won't be a problem. Good luck removing the little blighter, they're a right royal PITA to get out - especially when the air box is in the way! 😖😎

Just remember, the pain is far less than buying new units from Aston!
