I can see a pattern here, the colours that work with red carbon are my least favoured paint colours and my favoured paint colours don't work with red carbon. Looks like a compromise is in order.
Then its probably a whole lot cheaper to go with the paint you want and compromise on the red carbon, as its very expensive by all accounts.Just a curveball idea which might help with the paint compromise, but you do know AM can do any colour carbon, not just red?
Here is a Vanquish with blue carbon:
and a McLaren with green carbon:
DocW - Not sure what the latest iteration is like but the combination of the red flake and red carbon sounds great. I'm just a bit hesitant on going for black when I've just had a carbon black car.
Adam - the other coloured carbons are nice, that green is amazing and would look incredible on the right car. Not sure it's for an Aston though :-). The price for the red carbon is relatively reasonable I think but that could be the man maths correction factor kicking in.
I'm down to two colours so have put the full provisional spec together and will find out if it's all possible and available. Q seem to have some strange ideas on what they will or will not do. I don't get restricting certain paint colours when you have put it on a press car. Anyhow, let's see, whichever combo I go for it's going to be bold!
cheers,

What a fun process. So what are the two you have narrowed down to?cheers,

Someone who saw my car in the flesh said this though I am not familiar with the BMW colour myself. Ultramarine looks mostly black outside, mostly blue under showroom lighting. In some outside light conditions it looks like a flat blue (in a nice way) and when the sun shines it sparkles blue. It holds a lot of interest but then so do most Aston colours.
I have a carbon black 535 and your color has a lot more depth, blue-inesss and metallic sparkle John.gibbon said:

Haha, you would think so wouldn't you but in all honesty I'm finding it a bit stressful. It's the pressure of spending all that money and possibly making a complete *rse of it! Actually, that's not quite true but I do have a concern over my inbuilt lack of taste! The two colours? Oh those, they were so yesterday....
There seems to be a lot of Ultramarine cars with Dark Night interiors for sale in the US for some reason. The combination looks great. I was trawling through for sale adverts last night and came across a white DBS volante with cream truffle interior, the full Miami Vice spec! It would look great on Ocean Drive.

It is indeed stressful, as you say there are lots of ways to get it horribly wrong, but equally if you get the chance to order something bespoke you don't want to create a car that looks like all the usual dealer spec versions. I was lucky I got to spec my Vantage at the factory and see a lot that I was considering in the flesh and have the benefit of their Q staff experience. The two colours? Dark Knight and Pure Black are great alternatives to the usual Obsidian Black interior but if you are looking at Ultramarine Black paint then I suggest you also look at Black Damson interior. This picks out the blue in the Ultramarine nicely. Pics of both here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Like you hashluck, I'm trying to avoid a black interior, which just adds another complication to the equation since it goes with just about any paint colour.
That combination you have of the Ultramarine and Black Damson is fantastic. I'd thought about Black Damson depending on the exterior colour. Ultramarine must look stunning in bright sunlight. I'll try and find some pics of Pure Black. I'm a big fan of red, white and blue together so Dark Night is my default interior colour.
cheers,

Happened to be at the Bristol dealer today and compared samples of Dark Knight, Black Damson and Pure Black
Dark Knight is definitely more a very dark blue and Black Damson more a purple/plum (as you would expect). Pure Black is very black(!) and I think best used for trim bits such as top of dash etc rather than Obsidian.
No bad choices here.

Stratstone Derby have posted a video of a V12VSM in the Sport Pack Plus White with Orange graphics combo. It has the std mesh bonnet vents, so could be the best view of them seen so far...

Adam, whats it like to drive? Do you prefer the 7 speed to the 6?
I've not driven my car yet as it wont be registered until 2nd Jan, but I posted what I thought of the demo car which I drove in August on Page 1 of this thread. I am just perusing the V12 Vantage S option list. I assume you can get the proper bonnet vents as part of ECP4 Exterior Carbon Pack - Vantage £2995. Does anyone know what is also included in this option?
Can anyone help with regards the wheel options? What do the standard silver wheels and the lightweight wheels look like, and is it worth specifying the lightweights at an additional cost of £2995?
Many thanks
Steve
