UK New Car Registrations - Aston Martin
May 2021 = 111
May 2022 = 67
Jan to May 2021 = 478
Jan to May 2022 = 482
We will may never know which cars are in the 'Other' category.
AML development test cars are probably included, because a while back the DVLA reduced the amount of information for those vehicles.
No mention now of model name, or engine capacity. That spoilt our investigative fun!
Perhaps the Newport Pagnell re-creation models might be included.

Re MG - that doesn't surprise me, there seem to be tons of the MG SUV’s around - and when you look at the detail and think about it - its an easy choice for many-

brand name everyone knows - check,
electric option available - check,
7 year warranty - check,
Sub £17k - check (petrol version)
In stock - check (202 new cars in stock right now)
£1000 deposit and £219 a month 3.9% apr (what do aston try to charge you these days - a friend just bought a Mclaren and he was quoted 6.x%)

Interesting about MG - although I have to say their EV's are really good. My partner looked at the ZS EV and it was by far the fastest/longest range/best spec out there for the money.
Anyway, this is an Aston forum not MG! Somewhat disappointing results, I'm not sure how badly Gaydon are suffering with supply issues vs lack of demand for the cars?
When I was last at my local MD they said I could still get a new car within 3-4 months which I'm sure isn't far off the norm - a stark contrast to Porsche where I have a couple of deposits against cars I'm very unlikely to see until this time next year at the earliest!

No. The only data for that is the DVLA quarterly spreadsheet publication.
It takes so long for them to publish each update, we have lost the will !
The monthly make figures must be derived from DVLA, but is published promptly by SMMT. Since 2018, they have omitted Aston Martin, but it is available here,

Always annoying that the UK is only a part of the story for us.
The February Great Britain new registration figures are available.
February 2023 = 22
February 2022 = 17
Year to date = 1 car more than last year.
February and August are always slow seller months.
March will have higher numbers.
(If you don't have your own registration mark, must wait to show off car with reg. 23 - well, at least until September !)
McLaren still puzzles me, 4 cars in February. I suppose they can claim a 100% increase from 2022.
I see that there are 6 UK McLaren dealers, so some did not sell any new McLarens for delivery in February.
Hope those 4 were not dealer demonstrators !

Year to date = 306 ...... (YTD 22 = 341) -10%
2022 Annual Report, the Executive Chairman said, "We have strong demand across the portfolio with around 80%
of our production of current sports cars sold out for 2023 and a stronger DBX order book running into Q3 2023."
Presumably the export markets must be going well, but we always have to wait for AML to announce those figures.

AML is not in the Bottom Five.
Perhaps McLaren are selling lots of export cars, but if not, they must be worried.
A clear illustration of why the motor trade wanted year registration marks to change twice each year.
So many buyers wanting to display the latest registration date mark, certainly sells cars.
Much cheaper to spend a couple of thousand on a dateless registration mark for life.
No need to keep buying new March and September cars then. Think how much one would save.
For me the the Stroll ultra luxury thing is completely at odds with his business background. The brands he (or his Dad) marketed have become mass market crap, the opposite of ultra luxury.

Up the volume, cut the price. Sell the mass-produced new stuff on the strength of the old low-volume brand.
VW are making half a billion a year from Bentley that way. But they’ve done it so well that they’re putting the prices back up again, without losing the big new volumes.

That got me curious, so I went over to the AML site and looked at DBX: £115k for 21 plate with 10k miles.
Now, I know the point of that is that the Defender is stupidly the wrong price - but i think Land Rover are doing a better job.
I'm not sure the DBX will do the off road stuff I need or has enough boot space for my two golden retrievers so it's all a bit moot.
