Fingers crossed for Vantage. It's a shame that, nowadays, the engineering and technology and interior trimming in DB11 and Vantage are good but, to my eye (and maybe others based on the sales figures?) the styling is sadly awry. DB9 did fabulously because of its styling and engineering, tho the tech was a bit of let down. But its pluses sustained its momentum.

The whole UK car sales market was down 19.7% in March, so puts a little context on the AM figures.

BBC News: UK car registrations plunge in March
Indeed. But a fair amount of this downturn was put at the doorstep of diesel doubts. (Thankfully!...) this aspect doesn’t account for AM’s figures.

But I don’t think it’s too surprising as surely the old warhorse Vantage must have accounted for the lion share of previous production numbers. How this relates to percentage contribution to revenue/profit is another matter.

Should all be part of their business plan. And with their recent show of confidence and bravado at Geneva, there’s much to be hopefull for smile

The other bit of info we won’t be privy to is the increase in profit the new Vantage should hopefully represent following its significant price hike over the outgoing product range. Could be they only need to sell 50% to make the same profit (although unlikely this level!).

The DVLA UK new car registration figures are now available for the 4th quarter 2017.

I have been comparing the DB11 figures with those of the DB9, because each model has been the first, to represent a new era of planned growth for the Company.

After the first five quarters of production for both models, the score is;

DB9 = 1363 cars
DB11= 864 cars

It wouldn't be surprising if the Q1 and Q2 2018 figures for the DB11 will look skewed when they appear; I understand that production of the V12 DB11 is going on pause for a bit while it ramps up for the V8 DB11 and new Vantage. With the expected number of export DB11 V8's, it might make for bleak looking UK numbers where the actual production numbers are quite good overall.

Buyers obviously still value the new number plate, add to that the general decline in motor sales and I doubt Aston would be worried. Those sales look strong. Q1 18 will be very interesting.

Should imagine Q1and Q2 2018 will be depressed and awaiting the significant boost in Q3 when the new Vantage is fully available.

Should also imagine that AM started planning for this 5 years ago wink

If you are referring to the 2018 Q1 model breakdown PF, we have to wait ages for that.
However, the overall for UK has been posted on this topic.

MARCH 2018 = 229
MARCH 2017 = 425

YEAR TO 31st MARCH 2018 = 347

Not sure about rest of US or rest of world but up here in the Tri-State area (near NY) the dealers are still trying to push 2017 year DB11's (and V12VS and Vanquishes) with special lease deals. Does not suggest demand is outstripping supply, rather the opposite.

January to July 2018 new UK sales:-

Aston Martin = 810 - ( in 2017 it was 1066)

Probably only a few Vantage registrations in that figure, so perhaps the 2018 number will surpass 2017 by the year end.

I noticed some interesting and coincidental numbers, amongst the over 100,000 UK registration brands.

Figures (,000)

Audi = 102
BMW = 102
Ford = 161
Mercedes = 102
Vauxhall = 109
Volkswagen =130

Big league total = 706 thousand.

At least some of those are assembled in the UK, but probably only the Astra and MINI.

I only have eyes for Aston Martin, although Kimi Raikkonen's interviews can be quite funny.

Ferrari are shown within 'Other Imports', so cannot help with that question.
McLaren had 458 new UK registrations (Jan to July 2018), versus 321 in the same period 2017.

I am staggered BMW sell as many cars as Audi. Doesn't feel like that when driving about.

I am Jon, but what percentage must that be?

It just feels these days you don't see many BMW's about, not in the way you did 20 years ago before Audi seemed to steal that space.

Maybe just me, but that seems reasonably positive for 2020 given what the year has been like!

Thanks Jon, looks positive and I hope it is. Presume too soon for any DBX to be included in any material way?

A near 2x increase YoY? In this amazingly fragile year? Wow! Talk about bucking the industry trend...

Really curious how this breaks down across models.
