AMi III - Setup Tips

I might be wrong then. My understanding is:
AMi 1: The very first system you can find in a 4.3 Vantage, no hard disk, the GPS reads the map out of a DVD player in the left side of the boot, behind some carpet.
AMi 2 (the one I have): The second system you can find in a 4.7 Vantage, hard disk, the GPS data is copied to the HD through a DVD player in the left side of the boot, behind some carpet. I updated mine this summer with the latest Volvo data I could find.
AMi 3: The latest one, this one to be precise:
That has a completely new software and features and an SD card slot somewhere to update maps via Garmin/OpenStreet.
No?

You can update AMI 2 with Garmin/OpenStreet Map too. There's an SD slot in the AMI 2 unit that allows you to do this.

It seems AMI 3 does not have SD slot, however it does have 3 USB ports. Question if/how can I update the maps via Garmin/Open Street? Putting usb stick with Garmin map simply does not work as it does in AMI 2. That has a completely new software and features and an SD card slot somewhere to update maps via Garmin/OpenStreet.

Sorry, yeah, back to your question. Thing is, I have never encountered a USB procedure to update maps, but I did find one involving SD, it's even mentioned in the FAQS and in this very detailed post (it's the one I had in mind originally, when I suggested SD cards):https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=16...
But now I am confused too.

I have AMi 2 with the the mid-life dash, this one:
I haven't found an SD slot anywhere... Where should it be?
EVR, it looks you have volvo navi with CD changer in the trunk. I see your car is pre 2011 (non-glass buttons), so for sure you cannot have AMI-2, as it was launched in 2012.I have AMi 2 with the the mid-life dash, this one:

Ok, that might explain some things.Until now, I just assumed that first dashboard cars were AMi 1, second dashboard car like mine were AMi 2 and third dashboard car AMi 3.
The pictured car is not actually mine, I have a MY 2011 N420.

That isn't AMi II.
AMi II was on the haptic dash cars, so MY16 only for the Vantage - MY17 cars then got AMi III.
Yeah, now I got it. But then which model(s) got AMi 1 if the previous infotainment systems are actually defined as the Volvo ones?AMi II was on the haptic dash cars, so MY16 only for the Vantage - MY17 cars then got AMi III.

AMi I was the system in the Vanquish, which had that style dash from the outset. DB9 and Vantage never used this system.

OK the final two versions of AMi III as far as I know were
3.1.8/1.107 and 3.1.12/1.108
I am trying to dig through my info to work out which one is the recommended most stable one, and once I get it applied to our car I should be able to post any changes that may have been included too.

At the moment as I understand it the penultimate version was the most stable one. I’m on my way to AM Bordeaux at the moment and they are going to update.

That said what I was told this was 3.1.12/1.107 which appears to be a hybrid of the two above, so it may be incorrect, or indeed an impossible combo, hence I am trying to clarify to be sure before posting.
OK, so I have had the final version applied to one of our cars today and the version is:
App : 3.2.0
Base : 1.107
It would appear that comments relating to the final version rolling back probably related to the sub part "Base" which seemed to hit 1.108 and then roll back to 1.107 in the later releases, presumably due to issues with it.
I haven't noticed any obvious new features as yet.

OK, so this version is not stable, well not when using the Nav anyway. It crashes repeatedly (on both cars identical issue), and when it does finally stop crashing the screen glitches when the nav shows turing arrows. It's unusable I'd say with the Nav. Otherwise seems very stable and a few minor niggles were sorted but overall not good.App : 3.2.0

It's been handed back to the factory for a solution. I will keep you posted.
So today I have had the car updated to
App 3.1.10
Base 1.107
Which appears to be a halfway house of the various later versions.
So far so good, the nav remained stable all the way from the dealer to my home - to put it in context the nav would have crashed about 5-8 times in that timescale on the version I was on before.
That said the final version I was on did appear stable for anything other than the Nav. So if you are a carplay fan and dont use the built in Nav then it's likely fine for you. For me however, I love the built in Nav so it was vital to me to get this resolved.
Hope this helps you all in your search for the best version for you.

Adam, anyone, any idea how to set the time? Daylight saving ended some time ago. So I thought ok, I’ll just go and turn off the daylight saving setting in settings. No change. Then I thought maybe it’s linked to the GPS so went in and played with the Nav system. No change. I’m one hour ahead. Can’t find any way to change it to normal time. CarPlay is fine of course but I’d like all clocks to have the correct time. Thx!
