F Type more beautiful than a Vantage???
Discussion
I have just read an article on a business stylee website called 'Business Insider', from Feb 2016 where the employees of this somewhat dubious organisation seem to have agreed that a Jaguar F type is 'more beautiful' (their words) than a Vantage.... Now it seems like a fairly well informed well structured source of business and political mis information site, but really... an F type better looking than a Vantage... puts a whole new perspective on 'should have gone to specsavers'

As a Vantage owner, who has also been tempted by an F-Type, I think the appeal is the fresher look.
The Vantage is better looking by far, it's sleeker, classier, and timeless. The F-Type just looks new and different. Both are great looking cars

Nope would be my one word answer.
I think in 20 years time, the DB9 and Vantage will be classic looking cars with a following. The Jag will be another journeyman car, another Jag that changed every few years as fashion dictated. Its a great looking car, but I think a little awkward and overstyled from some angles.
The DB9 and Vantage shapes, I really struggle to pick fault with from any angle...sure you can make them more aggressive as you wind them up to GT spec road racers, but overall they are a lovely cohesive design and have aged well.......
Design is a difficult one, as some people prefer an ultra modern look in everything, whereas others appreciate a look of a period in time; do you want to live in groovy glass n steel box on a hillside, do do you prefer an old 1800's farmhouse.....

I grew up in Coventry and walked to school along from Browns Lane in an era when cars from Jaguar would be routinely tested off the production line. I can still remember E-types being test driven up the hill as we trudged to school. The delight when occasionally one would pull up, the driver in a brown lab coat would pop the bonnet and prod something to illicit many, many horses lives with me still! That experience led me to promise myself when I grew up I would get the next E-Type!!
I can't tell you how excited I was after several false dawns the F-Type was finally launched, I couldn't wait to try one out and no matter, I would get one. I drove a few, but though my heart said yes, the head said no.
45 years of promising yourself THE car is tough when you find it doesn't quite tick all the boxes. And why? Because Mr Callum penned something closer to the E-Type in pure design aesthetics and which doesn't have artificially created exhaust noise and is over governed by computers. The Vantage appealed to my head and heart more strongly than the F-Type ever would. To me, the Vantage I now own is the spiritual successor to the car I dreamt of all those years ago. Beautiful, imperfect, perfect.
I love the fact 'the Jag' are now epically successful and I wish the company well, but for me, the Vantage edges the schoolboy-dream F-Type. From a man maths perspective, the Vantage also edged the Jag on ownership costs. But don't ask me for the spreadsheet. It's slightly rose coloured and wouldn't stand up to inspection :-)
Whatever you drive, enjoy it & share it while you can!

If the Vantage were introduced now, its design would make every bit as much of an impact as it did when it was first seen. IMO, it hasn't lost ANY of its aesthetic appeal over the years. I am a big fan of the F-type, and I think it's a great-looking car. The Vantage, IMO, is in a still different league -- one of the best-looking cars of the last 50 years (or more).

You can tell us Ian.
What do you know?
So I've been told to expect a little of the DB10 for the front end of the car and the rear will have much wider "haunches". It will be much more athletic than the DB11. I'm not sure if its going to retain the rear hatch or migrate to a rear trunk like the DB11 (I prefer a hatch as the DB11 trunk is tight. Note: My bicycle fits in the back of my V8 Vantage S. I too think the DB10 appeared to have been rushed... so I'm hopeful the time spent on the Vantage re-design will be time well spent. You will see none of the nonsense "floating rear hatch" as one sees on the DB11... whereby you must option an all solid roof in black or a totally solid color to mitigate the Lexus/Nissan 3/4 look. The engine will be epic and tuners will have a field day bumping the output. I'm told the car is a beautifuly cohesive and aggressive design. I'm speccing mine in Goodwood Green with a Chestnut Brown gut.

I can remember seeing the original concept at a motor show.
Very smooth contours and a good homage to the E-types.
What were the reasons for this design not being used, even if a few years later, when they finally decided to proceed with a replacement for the XK?
I'm was tempted to swap my old V8 for an F Type this time last year. Both are fantastic looking cars.
Almost wore these pictures out following the day I went to see the car, trying to make my mind up whether to swap.
Didn't take the plunge in the end as the potential depreciation of the FType put me off.
