I have a 2006 AM V8 Vantage with the early Volvo type satnav, the one renowned for being not so good. Does anyone know what the latest map/software update is for these systems and where is best to get them from? Am I best going to Aston or Volvo or is there an online alternative? Don't want to spend a fortune but I'm planning a few trips away this year and I feel an up to date 2017 sat nav may help!

Thanks
Sam

Volvo dealers sell updated DVDs (MMM), which fit Astons and they retain the Aston branding - or you can buy from many online sellers (just search Aston Martin MMM DVD)

I have the updated discs, but I think the main advantage of that is that it adds postcode search. However, don't think that the update suddenly makes it a modern, up to date sat nav - it doesn't. Mine works as long as I don't want to go anywhere too unusual but it's still fairly basic.

Once updated with full postcodes I actually found the system OK.

Do a search on here - pretty sure I posted details ages ago. As noted above, Volvo discs work, as do online "backups". IIRC the last updates I put in the car were 2014.

Am I right in thinking then if I update to the 2016 version that latestsatnav.co.uk have on offer at £24.99 that'll get me full postcode searches etc? And that's the latest edition available is it? The same as you'd get from the dealers?

Thanks
Sam

Sam,
As regards functionality, yes you get full postcode search when you search on 'City'. I've used them in both my V8Vs (DVD & HDD). You just need to leave the appropriate disc in the nav unit in the boot (Coupe).
These discs are copies of the originals hence why the companies manage to sell them so cheap (they're effectively breaking copyright), but I've never had a problem with them & they are MUCH cheaper than the Volvo discs. These appear to be the latest version.

And me...

Although its thrown a wobbly this weekend and cant seem to see the disc. Going to try re-inserting it today to see if it resolves the issue.

I bought some updated Volvo discs from eBay. Adds postcode but still sucks and I still use my phone instead.

I've ordered the disc from latestsatnav.co.uk so I'll stick it in this weekend and see what it's like! Fingers crossed it all works!

You should be OK, but don't get your hopes up, the warder from a women's prison is still giving you instructions biggrin

I assume then that I must be able to update the Nav in my 2013MY beast then ?

Not expecting wonders (though to be fair the Garmin unit isn't bad). I just want updated roads as otherwise it looks like your driving through a field and the nav sts itself and sends you all over the shop.

So I have bought an updated satnav disc for my 2007 V8V using the link to the supplier above. Is there any specific process to follow when installing it or do you just take out the old disc and replace it with the new one and fire up the sat nav as usual? Cheers G

I used a 2015 disc from http://www.satnavupgrades.co.uk for my 2008 Vantage. It worked a treat.
