Current Maps are 2018.10 NTU (Unicode Version) or 2017.20 NT (Normal Version).
You could look in the Settings / Maps which Map is installed. Normally there are 4 Versions (.10/.20/.30/.40) in a year, but it seems, that Garmin changed that recently.

Thanks for the info, I'll check later. No point replacing something if it's only a few months out of date.

So is an SD card the only way to update the Sat-Nav maps in my 2013MY V12, or is it just one of the ways ?

If possible I'd rather do a complete update of the system from DVD's etc, however i'm not sure if that's possible with the Garmin system. I know it is on the older Volvo one as I did it on my V8R.

Any ideas ?

UPDATE - Works have just confirmed that the SD is the only way to do it, so question answered.

The SD-Card isn't the only way of updating the maps. You could connect your PC to the unit and store the maps in the internal memory of the GVN54, overwriting the old ones, but that's for the Advanced Users :-)
I am interested to know about the GVN54 update and upgrade, please.
Thanks

I bought this in February, dropped in the SD card slot, selected the map in config settings, works fine.

Another shout out to divetheworld for this information.. clap

I actually didn't need Europe so for an even cheaper £34.99 I chose the "UK and Ireland" option from here

Just plugged it in and, as said before, speed limits, speed cameras, etc. all work fine.

As an aside, I also tried a free open street map download, as outlined in this thread

but I found the display colours a little gaudy, particularly the green used for countryside/national parks. And, as I had to buy an SD card, it wasn't actually "free" to me. Happier with the £35 option.
