Why I slowly start to hate my V8VR....

Thanks again for all the good input, highly appreciated. The prospect of fixing the whole topic with a new roof ECU for about 500 quid and a new battery sounds very positive.
I'm just not sure if I should order the roof ECU via AMbits and install it myself (or in a garage I trust) or if I should risk going to that dealer again...
That things should do it: https://astonmartinbits.com/models/5-V8-Vantage/pa...
btw: TPMS is disabled on my car, the AM dealer did that...
I would always phone AM and ask them for a price, I have been pleasantly surprised recently at how much than can 'save' you (sometimes cheaper than the astonmartinbits website once they have added VAT and shipping etc). Also, I believe its plug and play ECU module, so give it a go yourself first....I'm just not sure if I should order the roof ECU via AMbits and install it myself (or in a garage I trust) or if I should risk going to that dealer again...

TKP, re seeking AM advice in Germany: Start reading the German Aston Martin forum (www.astonmartin-forum.de) TODAY. "Superman" has deep technical insight into the Gaydon cars second to none and is the most helpful person. I am sure he would answer your posts should your technical problems happen to continue in the future.
But for now the equally helpful community here has pointed you in the right direction: Roof module failure.
Viel Glück!

Thanks, Emilio, I read the German forum from time to time and I've read a lot of very good advice from "Superman"; however, my decision was overall to stick more to PH as the activity level here is about 10 or 20 times as high (that's at least my perception). I guess there are more AM in Wales than in whole Germany ;-P

I think you are being overly generous to Wales. No clue - it just doesn't work anymore, so I get no messages anymore. E.g.my wintertyres don't have the TPMS valves and it doesn't matter. But I think the box is still physically present (it's that square one under the dashboard, co-driver side, the one with the four colors on it, correct?)

Correct - lights still on?So I pulled fuse 10 in the boot this morning, error messages are gone for the time being. Thanks a lot.
My AM dealer claims that pulling the fuse is not suffient and that I have to pull the plug from the CRM itself.
And for anyone who believes in "fair" or even "good" offers from AM dealers: not in Germany, about 1,000 GBP for the module, without the installation which will be another 200 GBP. I'm aware that an AM is an expensive car but in Germany they rip you off because you have no options as there is only a few dealers across the whole country and very little independent specialists.

I'm sure you could enquire about module prices over here in the UK and then get it shipped or a felllow PH'er could take deliver and send to you if it works out being half the price if purchased in the UK. Try fitting it yourself or any good auto electrical company could fit.My AM dealer claims that pulling the fuse is not suffient and that I have to pull the plug from the CRM itself.

It might not help but I work in NL and have family in the UK so if you do want to order a module and can wait until May 15th I can bring it back with me and post it on from here.My AM dealer claims that pulling the fuse is not suffient and that I have to pull the plug from the CRM itself.

I know that AM Works will ship stuff, but as I'm just round the corner if you buy it I'm happy enough to go and get it and ship it to you directly if you want ?
I'll PM you the parts guys email address at Works.......got to be worth at least seeing how much they want. Remember to haggle over the price too, they've always shaved a bit off when I've pushed them.

Although i'm not an AM owner (get out i hear them cry), i do recognise the electrical gremlins described and i've had similar messages pop up on the Jaguar, when the battery was failing. This was even on a young battery of just under 2 years.
Because the car wasn't being driven often, the battery wasn't being fully charged and would dwindle in power, this resulting in the warning messages of some ilk.
May i suggest you look into purchasing something like a battery conditioner, rather than an outright charger.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00S8969OG?ref=emc_b_5...
This will tell you the condition of the battery and if it's in need of a bit of TLC and will coax it back into life. If you go down the route of buying a new battery, this will help prolong the life, so it's always in tip top condition.

Many thanks again for all the advice and the help offered in getting the bits & pieces. As I am not a patient person and it's "roof down" weather" I will fix the thing next week at my local dealer; if the dealer is not able to do this on short notice I can still order at astonmartinbits for some 476 GBP.
Hello
Have a look at Moonhawks thread on his 'weird electrical gremlin' and my reply.
I initially tried pulling the fuse in the boot but it won't work as that is the high load circuit and not the CANBUS. The CANBUS has the rogue message coming into it from the roof control module, only by pulling the plug on the module itself, or by pulling the tiny fuse under the passenger floor(I think it's 5mA) will you isolate the electronics in the RCM and consequently ascertain the fault.
If I'm wrong you put the fuse back and it's cost you nothing, if I'm right, you need a new RCM, you won't need to buy a new battery and you can stop hating the car.
Order the RCM to the car from a dealer, they are programmed and need to be correct, that way you simply plug it in and it works. Make sure you disconnect the battery before you do it to avoid a 'spike'.
Good luck

I read the thread, thanks; I currently only pulled the fuse 10 in the boot (30A) and the messages are gone... however, I can also remove fuse 69 in the cabin (5A), no problem.I have now an appointment at my AM dealer next week to replace the CRM, they have it on stock anyway.Have a look at Moonhawks thread on his 'weird electrical gremlin' and my reply.
