We buy six figure cars, then discuss fuel consumption.
Beware - The men in white coats will be round, with their anti-irrational jackets.
Nope, we discuss the added benefits of a modern six-figure car over an old one.Beware - The men in white coats will be round, with their anti-irrational jackets.
I still wake up in a cold sweat remembering that lottery of embarrassment when you pull up next to the V-Power pump in a beautiful Vantage, to fumble under the dash to press the button, to hear the solenoid activate, to look across to the door mirror hoping, just hoping that the fuel flap pops up only to have the walk of shame around the back and press it down before walking back to have another fumble... all in front of the admiring glances who are now quietly sniggering as the Pantomime unfolds... anybody who actually drives their Aston would love that to happen less frequently I'm sure.

You've got that wrong!! You go round to the boot, open it, search for the manual release whilst inserting a credit card into the flap as you pull the manual release...works every time!!I still wake up in a cold sweat remembering that lottery of embarrassment when you pull up next to the V-Power pump in a beautiful Vantage, to fumble under the dash to press the button, to hear the solenoid activate, to look across to the door mirror hoping, just hoping that the fuel flap pops up only to have the walk of shame around the back and press it down before walking back to have another fumble... all in front of the admiring glances who are now quietly sniggering as the Pantomime unfolds... anybody who actually drives their Aston would love that to happen less frequently I'm sure.

Hey Jon, I was just trying to find something positive to say about the Beware - The men in white coats will be round, with their anti-irrational jackets.
It was an attempt at compromise!

Although not necessarily a deal breaker, fuel consumption is a factor for me.
Just because one has a spare few quids doesn't mean one has to be profligate.
Other factors that irritate me in my DB9V,in theory a 4seater GT are, very tight rear seat space, lack of boot luggage space, useful interior lockers, average sat nav.
Of course one puts up with this as the car is aesthetically beautiful and maybe that's enough.
Solution for you...Just because one has a spare few quids doesn't mean one has to be profligate.

Order a new Vanquish V and have Q replace the rear seats with a locker box....3 of your 4 irritations taken care of.

So it has been 3 months and 4,500 flawless kilometers in the Huracan. Is is definitely not an Aston Martin, the excitement and emotions around the Lamborghini brand are tremendous and more intense. Not sure what expect, but it has all been smiles and positive reactions (from what I have seen at least).
Most importantly - I have not had any issues with the car at all except for the telephone directory not always syncing but both the deal and the factory has been on it to find a solution. The drive is amazing, the feeling and the experience is so different and I am confident it was was the right choice to take a break from Aston Martin.
So long...

I really get it; was at the end of my tether with both of mine; sold the DB9 back as it was so squeaky and electrically compromised. The Rapide S continually went flat; one wet night I pressed unlock and all the windows came down and it died: in the rain. It was when taping bin bags around the windows that I decided it had to go.
Sympathies on that mate - what was the fault?I am moaning on the other foot mind! Had my Rapide over 3 years and the very expensive 42 months warranty I bought is about to run out. Just serviced and a TPMS sensor was replaced and that was it. The value I have had out of that warranty in 18,000 plus miles is about £400! Bloody thing doesn't ever go wrong! I was hoping to get a few coils at least as she is over 5 yrs old now!
I post this for equilibrium as am a powerful internet moaner and consumer right advocate! Balance!
NB - I am not including the piano black ski slope that cracked around the sat nav pop up as I bought a replacement for £200 and for which the supplying dealer kindly paid me £300 since the tick box '190 point inspection' report did not quite match the chasm in the wood
And Rob I SO get your aesthetic values thing! My car (and one of yours ) is a masterpiece beauty and a pinnacle of stunning proportional design - and goes, sounds and handles bloody well. Others want more aggressive form and a more track/race inspired design and dynamics. I totally get that. One of each please
