Hi folks - had the car (09 V8V) for a few months now and finally starting to get to grips with its Idiosyncrasies.

I haven't been able to figure out what the two blue LED are on either side the driver gauges that flash on when the car starts. Any idea? They are on each side of the gauges on the metal surround section below where the leather hood curves down... sorry, my description is a bit crap - shoulda taken a photo....

I've scanned 100's of images on the web and can't see any others with them, tho' it's hard to see. Certainly looks original as opposed to after-market... some sort of security feature? Just hope it's not a 'you are screwed' warning..

Cheers-

Anything in the owners manual ? (Not got mine to hand)

I've checked the workshop manual and it doesn't refer to any blue lights in there.

I can only assume its an aftermarket function.

I'll see if I can get a photo later today. I had a scan of the manual but got glazed eyes so probably missed it - if it was there.

It just seems too well done to be 'after-market' - tho' quite possible.

Cheers-
Pete

If I'm not mistaken, the two blue lights under the hood that face the gauges are to illuminate the gauge cluster and should come on (no blinking) whenever the ignition / car is running.

Here you go - the two 'holes' with the LED's are very very well done, which is why I thought it was factory. They flash 3 times prior to start up and the last flash coincides with the red alarm light (above fuel gauge) going off.

I don't believe this is Standard or a Factory option. Do they remain illuminated, If they do do they dim with the dimmer dial/button?
Just throwing it out there could it be some sort of custom blue-tooth install or Radar Detector/Scanner?

You might be onto something with the radar/laser scanner. It appears the car had a laser jammer connected at some point as the hardware is still at the front of the car - see pic (the hardware in the car has gone). The lights only flash during startup then go off - it does make sense it's associated with detection as it's 'in your face' when they flash.

The car is a 09 and has bluetooth - works pretty well with iPhone. I thought that was a standard option tho'

I checked my 09 closely...sorry but no lights like yours...
I believe it is after market add on for something ...makes sense on Lazer jamming...but in the USA it is not legal for radar jamming...you go to jail...hahaha

Sorry I could not help...

Thanks...funny...after seeing the chart I got stopped and ticketed for using my radar detector in Virginia...told me next stop and take the unit...told serial number off my Valentine one and recorded.

So I undated my unit and got new serial number...haha

But as far I know we can use to detect radar except in states you showed but can not jam it.

Lazer is permitted to be jammed but the units are crazy expensive...also not used much except by State police mainly..

Thanks for the chart...it will save me more tickets...evening
