Pauses for thought - OK, so is the "Power Upgrade" available for a V12VS?
Presumably it would be for £12,495 (for the Performance Pack) less the £8,995 (for the Titanium Exhaust and CF blade) which is just £3500 +VAT +fitting!
Now that's a very tempting offer, the full 595 BHP of a GT12 combined with the sound from my existing cat bypass, for a fraction of the cost.
Just have to live with those plain black magnesium manifolds!
Nice theory, but I believe currently, the dealer fit kit has to be the whole thing inc exhaust. Presumably it would be for £12,495 (for the Performance Pack) less the £8,995 (for the Titanium Exhaust and CF blade) which is just £3500 +VAT +fitting!

My main concern here is that all of these extras completely dilute the AMR cars. If all this kit is fitted by dealers what are you getting with AMR other than a number. I appreciate specing a new car is nirvana for some but I'm a simple guy and when I drive around in my Black/Black I'm pretty happy.
Let's be honest.Aston is cynically exploiting the brand with cars that are badge engineered.
Elegance is no longer important.
I don't have a problem with limited edition cars but Ferrari and Porsche produce versions that have engineering integrity and are so much more desirable.
I have now given up on AM but hope in a few generations time I will want to come back.

Porsche Exclusive Series anyone?Elegance is no longer important.

Isn't it obvious what Aston Martin is doing? The next generation Vantage is years over due. Now it looks likely it won't be in production until the 2019 model year. They are stretching out the current model with one offs, limited runs, special badging, anything to keep it relevant and sell cars. It's not a bad thing, just beginning to get tedious and obvious. But at this point its all they can do.
Just for once with PH, what I would really like is a thread where people come up with constructive comments on how to best spec the car (a bit like Adam's Kermit thread)
Not the usual "we're doomed" or "I wouldn't do it like that" brigade
So if you're just here to be miserable maybe you could start your own thread for that? It won't get much readership because frankly I doubt whether anyone is interested in hearing about other people moaning (and I get the irony in this post In saying that).
And breathe......

New vantage will be in production well before my18 ! That's why they are rushing out this final edition. They can't do too much on the amr cars because it would encroach on gt8/12 which would have been amr cars
This is an end of line car like ultimate dbs. If you want an end of line vantage it's great and if you don't, it's irrelevant. It really is as simple as that

I think you are missing the point. There is a huge amount of goodwill for AM in this country.A lot of us desperately want them to succeed and build fantastic cars.IMHO all the limited edition versions they are releasing at present are just diluting the brand.I am sure the brand can survive but ultimately engineering integrity not stripes and union jack badges is what is important. Not the usual "we're doomed" or "I wouldn't do it like that" brigade

My dealer and another source both told me it would be unveiled at the Geneva Auto show in 2018. That is March, so it will be MY19, a few could be 18's, I assume. But it really doesn't matter. I completely get this.IMHO these versions were still not "special" enough from an engineering standpoint.I passed on GT12 for that reason. This is an end of line car like ultimate dbs. If you want an end of line vantage it's great and if you don't, it's irrelevant. It really is as simple as that
Regardless of my reservations these should have been the AMR versions not the ones announced this week.Hopefully the AMR cars in the future will be "Speciale".

I think this the appropriate place to discuss and share opinions on a newly announced car, whether positive or not.Not the usual "we're doomed" or "I wouldn't do it like that" brigade

As people go through the spec process and then delivery of their AMR, I'm sure there will be new, separate threads dedicated to these decisions and journeys, and ask for feedback should they want it. I certainly wouldn't be tacking it onto the end of a thread that has seven pages of mostly negativity about a car I'd just spent a lot of money on!
My frustration was with the launch and the comms, not the car itself which I think will be a wonderful send-off for Vantage. We've only really seen the coupes in Halo spec and a white coupe with Aero, so when images and reviews start to come out of different colours (with and without graphic) and body styles, I think people will drop the cynicism created by the way the car was launched and get excited about some really lovely last-of-the-line V8 and V12 Vantages!

I agree. My opinions on the V12 Vantage AMR are just that ,opinions.I am sure it will suit a lot of people and be wonderful (sorry if that sounds condescending it genuinely is not meant to be).I have an 812 Superfast on order.A lot of people on Ferrarichat have slated that car's design but nobody on Ferrarichat seems to mind because it is a forum for opinion.
