Judging the exterior design from the pictures and videos I am tempted to say they have completely lost the plot. The Toyota GT 86 has already been pointed out correctly and all day long I wondered where I had seen elements of this (partially uninspired) front design earlier in my life:
The car seems to be designed for American/Asian markets. The randomly thrown together interior design could very well be found in the next Chevrolet Camaro or Ford Mustang. The flow, the elegance is all gone. If it wasn´t written on it, it would be hard to identify this as an Aston Martin.
What´s left of the British identity of the car is the side view which again strongly reminds of another car: Mr Callum must be laughing up his sleeve. He had cheekily copied himself with the F-Type and now sees Aston to be forced to take a new direction as the old design was nearly impossible to surpass. An “unfriendly take-over” of the Vantage so to speak as it is now hard not to vote for the F-Type designwise.
Conclusion: The car needs to be seen in the metal – that is for sure. Maybe it is as unphotogenic as the DB11. But for a first impression this is a disappointment. The elegance is lost and most of the beauty, too - in favour of shoutiness. Chavvy times.

Check the specs on the configurator, the mouse thingy is already a deletable option.
As for deleting the ipad screen, how do you expect to be able to use Nav, audio and all the other functions that need such a display without one?
Happy to have a usb socket for music, don’t want satnav and not sure what the other functions are on screen but would happily have a handy little pipe shelf and ashtray instead. ^^^this all day long. We have the old Vantage buyers defending their territory, understandably, (the outgoing model is very pretty) and the people who have never owned an Aston chipping in with green eyed idiotic comments. This car is the future of AM and I wish them all the best...read any professional write up and you’ll get a true unbiased opinion. For me it takes AM into the next decade and it is enough for me to buy one. Onwards and upwards AM, you are doing a great job
Any professional write up.... don’t give me that trollop. Those in the media allowed to see the car so far will be very much on their best behaviour. I’m not say they won’t be writing from the heart but I’m not convinced it will be a true reflection of the motoring press... bananarob said:

Time will tell won’t it? Trollop or not...tit Big Ry said:

The red one is at Works tomorrow. Give the Barista a call.
I'm still in Malaysia and Dubai (not at the same time before anyone gets cocky ) until Tuesday, otherwise I've have wandered down.Tempted Frankie...... ?
I showed Mrs Minglar a picture of it last night. Her levels of interest in cars have always been minimal but her response was “What have they done to the front? It looks really sad, like an unhappy basking shark” It seems to me that reaction has been very split on what really should have been a monumental day for AM. As I said earlier in the thread, I will reserve judgment until I have seen it in the metal. I still think it’s strange that no manual version has been shown. As others have mentioned it feels like it is being directed to markets outside of the UK and a conventional auto will appeal much more in those regions. Looking back on this thread it’s quite uncanny how accurate the renders were from the patent drawings and the front grill was clearly visible then. After a night sleeping on it I still feel a little underwhelmed. :-(

So found an image........and I think it looks better with the plate on, it makes the gaping mouthing look a little less....well......gapping !
Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh and hopefully I’ll like it. Even if I do I’ll hold off until at least the ‘S’ is released (four pipes I reckon).
Anyone know whether there will be one at Works in a couple of weeks for the DB4 GT Continuation launch drinks ?
Seems like my photoshop is getting a lot of attention, I’ve seen it posted all over the internet in the last 24hrs!Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh and hopefully I’ll like it. Even if I do I’ll hold off until at least the ‘S’ is released (four pipes I reckon).

This is amusing.
I used to read on here, 'remove the plinth, to reveal the whole of that beautiful grille'.
Something has changed.
Now, 'it looks better with the plate on'.

Would there be a problem swapping the mesh grill for a traditional slatted one? Just thinking how low it is to the ground - would stones be problematic?
Just thinking that otherwise there’s a great opp here for Telum and DivetheWorld

Very lucky, because there is now plenty of cheap material immediately available.

Not had time to digest the pics fully but when a front end photo comes up when I'm not expecting it my mind says Mazda RX-8.

The rear I like. The side I need to see more photos of. The interior is obviously very different. For me it's a bit shouty but this is supposed to be the hard core part of the normal Aston line up. I'd expected it to borrow from the db11 but I assume it doesn't?
I hope the car is well received (although only time will tell about the front end perhaps it's a grower) and the world keeps loving the original shape - which I think was a classic design from the day it came out.

I'm trying very hard to like the front, I preferred the DB10, this is a step too far for me and having a plate slap bang in the middle of the mesh looks terrible to my eyes, especially when framed with a splitter. The dramatic oversized front is diminished by the focus being on the plate not the car. The same problem with the Rapide, fantastic grill, ruined by a plate.
Not that I could even afford the options on the car never mind the car in the first place I had a play with the configurator....still in two minds regarding the whopping great mouth but with a bit of 'lipstick' it seems a bit better to me, add a plate and it's a bit less gaping.
Now just have to wait 10 years until I can remotely 'afford' one like the last Vantage....so if someone can spec one in Morning Frost with red accents and dripping in carbon, use it sparingly I'll be in touch in 10 years.
