forget the styling - a serious concern I have is regarding the manual version of this. AP promised that a manual version would come along, but if anyone can point out where a gear stick would go, please do! Even these guys noticed: http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2017/11/22/Has-Aston-M...

A friend as fellow astoner has just sent me this. We both think it has a much better looking nose than the new vantage.
Fantastic picture. Illustrates exactly what I said in my earlier post: Just interchange the badges et voilà, the brand new Toyota Vantage Bi-Turbo Supersports-R, boldly stating in best British style: "Ferrari, Porsche ..... move aside!"Edited by Emilio Largo on Thursday 23 November 16:36

Here's my very bad attempt at the GT CF. I may come back to it to smooth the bottom joins out. Personally I like the classic grill option PS'd above
This does look like a genuine improvement to my eyes, (as do the slats on other renders). Need to see more images with uk numberplate in place to get a true sense of proportion - a challenge to you rendering wizards.Edited by dbs2000 on Thursday 23 November 12:56
I wonder if AM design team are following this thread? Lol.
OK what about this, the legacy look. I've changed the front bumper completely, changing the profile of the protruding grill surround, revised the lights and changed the wheels. Surely Aston could offer a package like this to those customer s who want a less in your face version. I really feel this is more along the lines of what the base car should look like with the more aggressive front reserved for the S and V12 models

According to Peter Quintus, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at BMW M, who recently spoke with Drive, the dual-clutch transmission could be gone within a couple of years. We all know manuals are slowly dying, with the next-gen M3/M4 possibly not coming with a manual. However, the dual-clutch death would be surprising, as it’s been considered the enthusiast’s choice if a manual wasn’t available. However, the benefits of dual-clutch transmissions have become virtual non-existent with the advancement of standard automatics.
Typically, dual-clutch autos were lighter and shifted far faster than the standard torque converter auto but that just isn’t the case anymore. Modern automatics, especially the famous ZF eight-speed, can shift every bit as fast as dual-clutch autos and, in the case of the ZF, actually even lighter. Plus, it’s far cheaper to use a torque-converter auto and let’s not think that cost doesn’t factor in.
Another reason is power. Manual transmissions and dual-clutch autos have difficulty handling extremely torquey engines which, with turbochargers taking over, are becoming more and more common. According to Quintus, BMW M can develop manual transmissions to handle the torque but the extra strengthening makes them heavier than an automatic and the shift quality becomes quite poor. So it actually ends up doing more harm than good.

Yes. You would think that with the level of personalisation that goes into AM, a choice of grille designs wouldn’t be out of the Q’uestion! (See what I did there!). Thoughts?

They can do it: Noticed on the latest Vanquish S there are some cars with carbon and some with traditional slats; GT12 had choice of grille; etc.
From following this thread, it’s the mouth that has caused the most controversy, so why not cater for all?

Front of the car needs to have a bonnet like the Vulcan imho. Indents and cut-outs not “power bump”

They are probably saying, 'We will be just fine, without their old fashioned opinions'.
When I spoke to the young designer at St Athan, who showed me his drawing of the front, I said that won't go down too well.
The only response was, the raised eyes look.
What we now see, is exactly the front design drawing that he showed to me.
Mark Reichman, who was standing to one side told me, "This is the man who has done much of the exterlor design work".

But then we're pretty much left with a DB10 again!
I assume AM felt obliged to make some fairly bold styling changes to differentiate the two cars, but I can't help wondering if the new Vantage looks better in the parallel universe where Sam Mendes never got to see those sketches at AM headquarters...

I have watched the film. I think the film maker is called a Video Blogger. He has certainly put us in our place.
Every criticism we have made, on goodness knows how many pages here, are all entirely wrong.
There are only two tiny things wrong with the new Vantage, and neither have even been mentioned by any one on here yet.
1. The interior door handles are not perfect. I think it might have pinched his finger.
2. When the engine start button is pressed, the iPad screen states 'DB 11'.
Everything else is perfect, although he would love to have some of the many options available.
One aspect that he particularly liked, was how the seat adjustment controls are positioned on the side of the transmission tunnel. (Wonder where that idea came from).
He told us it was a Wednesday in Beverley Hills, and the only places in the world with as many supercars on the streets, are Monaco and some other place, which I now cannot remember.
What do you think about these motoring video makers ?

Ask Reichmann if you can replace the guy on the design team who came up with that awful, gaping mesh grille - I think you should get serious consideration LOL.-- Great picture --

Understand completely, but profit is the name of the game now , why do you think AP was brought in other than to change the whole company for the better .
Unfortunately it's the poor customer that will always make the vital contributions.
It is obvious to me that Aston have pored over the way Ferrari do options.Even down to the national flag being offered as a badge option.Unfortunately it's the poor customer that will always make the vital contributions.
Ferrari have this down to a fine art.
The most controversial aspect of the Ferrari strategy is minimum spend on options if you want an early car combined with dealer targets for average option spend but by and large customers know the rules and accept this.
