I think its a real shame the DB10 wasn't the New Vantage, the new Vantage takes those ideas one step too far, imo, while the DB10 looks beautiful, purposeful, elegant and special. imo. Very subtle differences, make a huge difference.

We all spend time on things just for the fun of it, including myself, so I'm not looking to criticize, but there do seem to be an awful lot of people spending a lot of time, being very clever and creative, redesigning the front end of a brand new car that presumably has about as much chance of being changed as there is of a group of Victoria's Secret models coming round to my place tonight for an orgy
So, after consultation with a newly formed "pistonheads vantage re-designer" committee, here is the next Vantage:......

Please note the new "high grille" for those too arthritic to bend down....Lots of "traditional" features have been reintroduced.

They never said a Q option special stitched bench seat was available. I wonder if the front bumper can be specced in part timber / part graphite.

Yes, there are over a million stitches in said bench, and mahogany bumpers are proving popular, with carbon end caps....

I'm not seeing any lightweight (presumably balsa wood) wheels, nor matrix LED headlights.
Not amused.

Now, we are really on to something. wink

During development, it needs to pass the important, 'Let out of side turning' test.

Love the high rear seats, with the Q carpet option. Ideal for looking down on SUV PCP drivers.

Also, it can be laid backwards to help aero development of the WEC GTE racing version, which will contest LeMans in 2018.

Hmm let me think, aftermarket. Not that difficult to design and build replacement bumpers for cars, sure there are a few people on here running V12S bumpers etc on there 4.3's.

Thank you for the grills - That's looking better each time !

well done.

ps why is it winking at me?

On a more serious note, a clam shell bonnet would have been wonderful to clean up the lines, but it was a feat of engineering to have it on the DB11, and would have only bumped up the cost on the Vantage.
Premium has to mean something? What with the borrowed plastic switches and MB drivetrain and an inability to keep the nice light cut outs and classy panel joins then what’s left? A mini manages to do it.

I live my V12V but it came after a series of Z06’s which are half the price here in US (and a fraction to run and maintain) and are getting better all the time. In the UK the rarity is reversed so the Z06 looks like the classier choice!

I suppose AML did say predator, so perhaps we should look for terror rather than beauty.
It is just that we have always been given beauty before.

You will know that before launch, Andy Palmer said, "It is the most beautiful car that I have worked on, in the whole of my 36 year career".

Please - No jokes about Specsavers.

Looking at all the feedback so far, I have asked if A.M. will consider introducing a "Classic Pack" option which would include some form of traditional alloy grille (in addition to other touches). I do genuinely feel this would be a good move to keep all parties happy.

Beauty is, as ever, in the eye of the beholder and while many love the new aggressive grille & diffuser design, clearly they focus opinion (the Marmite factor!). Having a more elegant traditional "option," in addition to the existing variations, has to be win-win IMO, beauty in design and personal design enhancements (Q-etc) have always been one of Aston's strongest sales cards.

I understand there will be other options added for the grille going forward and that the idea is already under consideration. No doubt with front end crash protection regulations, design & manufacturing league times it isn't that straight forward, but I do think this will broaden the cars appeal, fingers crossed we see it on the configurator soon. We all want to see the new Vantage being as successful as possible smile

The grille shape itself won't be able to change, not on a production car, but the way the current grille juts out isn't structural so if they wanted to i'm sure they could replace the thick black/carbon border with something less obvious and some slats.

I think it wouldn't work though, not with the design of the rear being so aggressive and not changeable.

Still think the lights aren't very Aston Martin on the new Vantage and not sure how many people would look at the front and instantly recognise the car as Aston. Looking at the Vanquish/DBS mule that's doing the rounds I hope that car gets a more traditional tear-drop style shape.

Here are my lights from earlier posts on new Vantage in front view.

Saw one in the flesh yesterday, it certainly has the WOW factor that is for sure. Looks better from a distance I feel. I like the fact that they have gone strong on the styling to make a clear separation between it and the DB11. The 'mouth' I dont think looked as bad close up in the flesh as it does in the pictures.

I was not a fan of the vents, I hope they don't make it to the production model.

Nice to see one of the Le Mans cars outside..

Looking better Trev., but I am sorry to say, the design is unfortunately a long way away from me wanting one.

Bear in mind as well, with a few options it costs £140,000. I have got to really like something to justify that for a 'toy', and (based on the previous model) it will probably depreciate by about £60,000 in 30 months. On here we may not be representative, but if it does turn out to be a 'marmite' design, that will affect used demand.
