Agreed, I think the price point is too high for me. For that money I'd be looking at an 8 speed Vanquish I think

Looking better Trev., but I am sorry to say, the design is unfortunately a long way away from me wanting one.

Bear in mind as well, with a few options it costs £140,000. I have got to really like something to justify that for a 'toy', and (based on the previous model) it will probably depreciate by about £60,000 in 30 months. On here we may not be representative, but if it does turn out to be a 'marmite' design, that will affect used demand.

You probably looking closer to £150,000 with options converting back from dollars to pounds.

Huh, the Vanquish S Ultimate starts at £211,995, so realistically £230k half decent spec, or are you comparing old cars to new ones? confused

Hmm let me think, aftermarket. Not that difficult to design and build replacement bumpers for cars, sure there are a few people on here running V12S bumpers etc on there 4.3's.

Thank you for the grills - That's looking better each time !

well done.

ps why is it winking at me?
Like that a lot, can the lights be a little less slitty?

Now I like the new Vantage BUT it is only 8 cylinder and doesn't come with a manual. So I will wait until they put the V12 in it eventually.

I think there a impact reasons as to why the DB10 design couldn't be more closely followed.

I do like the new Vantage very much, but it's another league in price.

Sorry, yeah used Vanquish over new Vantage. I know it's not the same type of car etc but used Vanquishes looks like good value next to the Vantage now the price point is increasing

I'd imagine it working like the DB11 scratchchin
yup, the bonnet can go up with the light openings integrated into it. This again adds complexity to the panel and cost which is why I think Aston didn't bother

Isn't there an EU regulation that says the lights have to stay in the same place?

Man, keep the bonnet CLOSED ! That is one ugly mess under there. So glad the outgoing crop doesn't look like that.

It will come with a manual, just wasn't launched with one.
I'd be extremely surprised if they put a V12 in it. It'd be a huge increase in weight, plus disruption of weight balance, with no practical utility. The AMG-sourced engine puts out a large amount of power, with plenty of potential for more, and negates the need for a V12.

I don’t think ‘need’ has ever been a reason to build a v12, except maybe going back 50 years.

i'm sure they could replace the thick black/carbon border with something less obvious and some slats.

I think it wouldn't work though, not with the design of the rear being so aggressive and not changeable.
That’s the whole point everyone has their own opinion, you don’t think it would work, so many others think a classic style grille will look great and actually enhance the new design.

Each to their own, no one is right or wrong, my point is design and beauty are important on an Aston and having a more classic style option in addition to the existing design can only add to the appeal for a section of buyers and help maximise sales... win-win... smile

From the A pillar forward it's the same as the '11, and that was launched with a V12. Why wouldn't they?

Is it?! eek

It certainly looks completely different from the A-pillar forward both in terms of dimensions, design, cooling and aero. I may well be mistaken.

Having seen under the bonnet of the new car, I'm struggling to see how they would package a V12 in there, esp one with two turbos strapped to it and the associated pipework etc. One of the reason AML chose the 'Hot-V' AMG motor is because of how compact it is, allowing the relatively short and low bonnet line on the new Vantage.

And, yes, I'm aware everybody said that about the previous Vantage, and they did it anyway biggrin

In the words of Marek Reichman I’ll just leave this here:
“The bonded and riveted aluminium structure is, of course, descended from the DB11 – everything from the A-pillar forward is carried over untouched (new crash structures are prohibitively expensive to develop)”

Good point, though only 30% of the tub is carry over from DB11, so Vantage has rear hinged clamshell bonnet, different inner arches, cross member just in front of V8. Guess the actual chassis legs with crash structure may be same.
But, i heard they once shoehorned a V8V motor into a Cygnet, so what do i know.....

Sounds fab. Maybe rear diffuser should be matched to body pack, as it would be indistinguishable anyway?
