Now I fancy one of the new generation ones.

I thought it would cost me £3k a month so you have given me a little good news, thank you ;-)
Easy decision then! Enjoy

Saw and heard the GTE at Brands Hatch Indy today. Very flat on paddock hill bend and sound along start/finish straight pretty good.

Still in camo livery though.

With a subtle joke like the one below, you might want to read the author's appraisal of the new Vantage.

' The Vantage looks like it is wearing a face of disappointed disbelief.
As if it took a sip of it's Martini, only to discover that the bartender had, in fact, stirred it. '

It does look overdone/fussy.

Maybe they're going to do what happened to the last version in reverse - start with the fussy, creased, odd detailed version. Then straighten it out over the next few years smile

+1
I don’t dislike the new Vantage but it looks overwrought compared to the DB10.

Madcal , firstly congratulations - you've not left many boxes unticked. The side gill I assume you've gone perforated to match the rear ? - when I first saw the car at Gaydon was curious how both would end up after road use - cleaning exhaust tips which appears a similar coating is virtually impossible but not sure that's such an obvious issue.
I quite liked the carbon side version ( to match your roof ) although £1,000 more or so.
Look forward to seeing the pics.

Would like to know about the magnetic connector on the bumper?
Yes, me too. That way when you drive off with the battery conditioner still plugged in it would detach gracefully. Unlike what happens now frown

In the old days Tau was the symbol of resurrection. I guess you could say the new vantage is indeed a Vantage TAU.

Yes I think to match the rear. The CF was too much extra cash and I quite like the matt black look.

I go to see a real one and confirm my spec next week; maybe it changes a little.

Very excited, as I said before the design is a big change, but I am sure it will settle in with people.

Funny I also had the new TVR on order and people have had a similar reaction to that (although the new TVR did disappoint me looks wise if I am honest, I await seeing that in the flesh also).

Have you seen the Matt black inserts in the flesh? just my personal opinion but I thought they looked a little unfinished, maybe even cheap. I dont believe you can change them anyway but I wouldn't want them as gills. If you have, just ignore me.....

As a Spyker owner and V12V owner I always wondered why some people thought the Spyker ugly. It looks quite restrained now doesn't it?

If they put on a more traditional front grille I’m sure a lot of the objections would disappear.

Imagine that brave new look heralded by the unmistakable Aston front.

The gills are a tough one, will decide when I see in the flesh.

Having them contrast is a nice design feature I think which you lose if they are body coloured. The matt ones are perforated, the body and CF ones are not.

But the matt black ones I agree in some photos don't look so nice. The CF ones are another £1,000.....

I understand the perforated ones help with heat dissipation, but at the same time there's the issue of them acting like a colander for road grime to fly all the way down the door (the DB11 struggles with this a little bit around the strake area). Carbon might work in conjunction with a dark body colour. I've only seen body coloured ones in the metal thus far (which looked good on that particular specification).

I don't think having the 'colander' holes or not, makes any difference to possible road grime on the doors.

When looking downwards at the gills, you can look through a large hole and see the tyre treads.
On the dealer launch car, there were already a few small stones lodged in the base of the gill.

I am sceptical about that marketing guff, about how there is a build up of air pressure in the wheel arches, and so the gills are there to relieve that air pressure, therefore reducing the car's front end lift.
At 200mph on the Mulsanne Straight, I could believe it (remember the Mercedes cars that took off three times), but driving on public roads, I think they might be avinalarf.

At the time we said the front of a DB10 looks like a shark, do you think it gave then the idea to fit the fish gills ?

The perforations cannot be for cooling otherwise why offer unperforated ones?

I think it is a question of style / personal taste. Will eyeball both options and decide!
