Before my time Jon.
Yes, I heard rumours that you are a suave, dashing young thruster, so I did wonder whether you would know him.
Try to watch the video. Hilarious mix of superb script and slap stick.
Happy Christmas to you, and thank you for your humour during 2017.
I got some of your jokes, and nurse explained the others to me.

So I spent a day at Gaydon and saw the new Vantage. Even had a sit in the black/yellow one that was in the spy shots.
The design is 100x better in the flesh than in the photos, really. I am certain all the negative noise will go away when people see them on the streets. Yes the old models are prettier but when you see the new Vantage next to them they all look 100 years old. The grill everyone is so worried about sits really low down; what you see at the front is the long shark nose. I think it looks much better than the DB10 (which I saw also in the flesh when I was there).
The interior also is a great place to be, super comfortable and the finish / materials (including the metal vents people seem to mock) look & feel outstanding.
I am extremely happy I ordered one; I maybe went a little (a lot) overboard on options but it will look great, it sounds like an angry nascar when in track mode and promises to be extremely fast.
Counting the days until June ;-)

EFA - as far as I know the v12 is also built in Germany
Is it? the v12 in the DB11 was designed in house by Aston before MB came on board...I was under impression it was still built in house... more than happy to stand corrected though
If you look up the dimensions, either the bore or stroke (cannot remember which) is identical to the N.A. V12 engine, so presumably the basics are derived from the existing engine.
At least the block is cast in England. Bridgnorth, Shropshire I think.
That component probably crosses the Channel three times, if the DB11 is an export model.

I’d be interested to know what spec/options you went for and what the OTR price is. Is your car spec locked down now? I locked mine down this week waiting for build slot. I didn’t go overboard on options, only carbon is the interior trim!Counting the days until June ;-)

It’s what’s known as a turn of phrase.
I like the old designs too and plan to get a DBS next year to live with the new Vantage.
But I stand by what I said; new Vantage a huge leap forward.
No doubt about this the new car love it or hate it will age the current model.I like the old designs too and plan to get a DBS next year to live with the new Vantage.

The V12 engine is built by Aston Martin in Cologne, Germany.
Which just so happens to be located in the middle of a Ford plant. If you thought the 6.0l na engine was an Aston engine then there is no need to think the new V12 is any different.

Options are all of the tech bits, posh seats etc, a special leather with contrast stitch, special headliner, carpets to match. No carbon at all. Luggage (4k) and a full PPF (5k) and I end up at £160k plus change. Was a little surprised....... but for that money on a new car I don’t see anything else I like. This will be the first Aston I have bought brand new so want it to be special. I don’t like Mclarens, have done 911s, Italian stuff fails the Sainsbury’s test (would I feel like a bell end getting out of it in their car park). Anyhow IMHO an Aston is an emotional purchase (at least my last two were).
I love the older designs and will buy a DBS Volante too but for now I have nowhere to store it so will have to wait.
Mean no offence by the above, car parks would be boring if we all liked the same stuff.
Hoping for a very early delivery in time for Le Mans.
