When it comes to residuals of the current Vantage I'm not too bothered. Of course nobody wants to see something they've paid a heap of cash for go down in value, but for me life is too short. If I was that worried about residuals I'd steer clear of all premium emotive purchases full stop, buy something like a 3 year old Merc and just accept it'll be worth at best half of what I paid in three more years.
If my V12 is worth £50k in 5 years then so be it, all that means is that the V12VR I want will only be £70k, so it still works, it's not like my car will decrease and everything else increase.
Anyway....back to the point........still don't like it enough to shell out £150k......but i'm glad others do as that will ultimately create a used market........and I might like one enough one day to spend £75k

I finally had the opportunity to watch the online reviews of the new vantage, and seeing the black car with lime highlights, I’m in love! Clearly the car is colour dependant, and I definitely preferred the blue car making the rounds to the red car we saw at the previews, but seeing that black car, you can add me to that minority of old vantage owners with a thing for new vantage. If I was ever lucky enough, I’d have both sat in my garage
Great job Aston Martin!

happy with the heritage of the new engine, think it sound better than just about any vantage V8 or 12 I’ve heard to date.
You must be the only one thinking the New Vantage sounds better than the old one, be it V8 or V12?!Would have been nice to have heard a N/A 911 leaving on full sound as a comparison.

I'm having a play with the configurator, and am confused by the exterior body pack/graphics pack combos?
It seems you can only have the graphics pack (£4k!) if you select the carbon fibre exterior body pack (£7k!!!),.
Graphics pack doesn't seem available with graphite or gloss black packs.
BUT, with the graphite or gloss black exterior packs, you can still have the rear diffuser painted in a contrasting colour (cost unknown). So you could always have the front diffuser painted separately by a body shop, probably for just a few hundred quid.
How does that make sense financially??

PS; I'd like to hear at close quarters a free flow catted Vantage.

Watched (sadly perhaps) both videos of the cars leaving the SimplyAston event and other than a white V8 that must have had some retro fit bits fitted only the Vanquishes sounded good to me.
With the combination of a wet road and donkeys, perhaps unwise to rev sufficiently to achieve the best sound.

This has got me wondering. If the new Vantage were indeed to drop quickly to say £100k, that would then naturally depress prices of older Vantages (much as we love them are there any examples of older models of a car trading at a premium to the newer model).
But when you work your way to the bottom of the food chain I struggle to see older V8s going much below current levels (call it £30k) so long as they’re well maintained.
So my question is - will we see this compression in older Vantage values? Or will the value of older Vantages (V8 no lower than 30, V8s a premium to that, v12v higher still etc), support the value of newer Vantages?
I guess nobody knows at this point. Will be interesting to see how it works out though in the coming months
I don't know how used car values are determined. Looking at 2015 V8 Vantages, values are around 30%+/- below MSRP, the V12S's are closer to 50%+/- off MSRP''s. The V8's seem to lose less in value than the V12's. Highly optioned cars don't seem to residual that much more than base cars. A V8 costing close to $150,000 new is not worth much more than one that sold for $115,000 of the same year. It appears the higher the MSRP, the steeper they depreciate. Vanquishes drastically lose value over the first couple of years. I doubt the new Vantage will have much if any affect on the value of the out going Vantage. Older Vantages are basically just used cars, not collector cars, the prices do seem to level off after a steep loss curve initially during the first couple of years. Prices seem to be more mileage dependent, high mileage cars worth much less that low mileage cars. Average Aston owners don't put many miles on their cars, so most I see for sale are very low mileage.
I don't see the new Vantage holding it's value any different than the current ones, it may even depreciate faster since there will be many more produced initially. There will be many used on the market in the next few years as Aston starts cranking out updates to the model.
I'm really intrigued by all this speculation so let me speculate some more! This is mostly based on my intrigue at absurd MSRP prices for many a car - and there are lot of reasons for that - least alone the PCP smoke and mirrors.
If a 2015 V8 Vantage is now valued around 30%+/- below MSRP according to Aston V (above) then that is a stonkingly good position for anyone to be in - losing about £20k on enjoying a seminal design Aston over 12 years is blissful motoring! It equates to the fact that keepers create winners! I guess many of us knew that which is why I MUST hang on to my lovely car as better/faster/slicker/more high-tech stuff comes out to tempt me!
Meantime its fab to note that dynamically the new Vantage is a sure fire winner and all this over its prime territory 911 competition that has an even uglier 'head on' boat race! I hope it does exceedingly well for those whose loins it girds . Aesthetic quibbling over the nose certainly did not hamper Porsche, and many of us were sniffy over the DB11 looks when launched but I'd now be perfectly happy to have one (please don't mention the bolted on iPad dash). Go Aston - its fab to see the reviews and profits

I think you should all just save your money and buy one of these... Uncanny! ‘Spider’ already available too...
I’m genuinely baffled when people post the MX-5 like this. They have headlights and an open grille, that’s the only difference. The headlights are a totally different shape, positioned in a different place relative to the bonnet and grille. And the grille itself is a completely different shape. Just lazy commenting.
