Actually I found the weights:

8 bar grille: 3 lbs 13 oz // 1.73 kg
6 bar grille: 3 lbs // 1.36 kg *estimate
V12VS carbon fiber and mesh grille: 2-2.5 lbs // 1 kg *estimate
AMR mesh grille: 8.5 oz // 0.24 kg

That's absurd. The vast majority of the weight is in the front bumper armature - it's the huge cast aluminum structure at the nose of the car. Removing that has a big effect on weight and weight distribution.

I haven't seen any pics of the new chassis but I very much doubt the bumper armature is a casting - much more likely to be a 7000 series aluminium extrusion weighing a couple of kilos max .

Not 15 to 20 kilos then.

When I posted MR`s supposed quote, I purposely did not make any further comments, but it is interesting if they see any need to be defensive. After all, it is a sports car, not a racing car.

I guess they thought that by using the Vulcan shaped front, it would instill a racy sportiness, but in reality, many potential buyers might not know anything about the Vulcan model.

Nice one Rich, this does rather smack of Mr R justifying his design to those that don’t like it. No doubt the shape will eventually grow on most who dislike it initially, but I still think an optional Classic Pack with new front alloy grille design would keep all sides happy smile just seems win-win to me.....but designers understandably don’t like to compromise their creations. wink

I'm not trying to call anyone's BS but sometimes a comment is just too absurd. I based what I said entirely off the "heard MR said such and such" and I haven't heard that anywhere else (nor have I looked for it). Regardless of who said it, or if it was even said at all, there's no way the grille design was based on weight balance rolleyes If that did really come from MR or anyone else at AML... I'd love to see the numbers.

Very possible you're right. My post was referencing the grilles and armature of the outgoing Vantage. I'm a huge fan of weight loss so if they can knock 15-20 kg off the nose of the car, I'm all for it! I was using those references to give a bit of context to the claim that 15-20 kg could be removed from the nose of the car and the New Vantage's grille was a means to that end.

That’s the best looking spec I’ve seen to date. The photographer also deserves applause for finding the very best angles/lighting for the front end.

Kerb weights of AMG GTs according to the brochure which is handily next to me:

AMG GT: 1615
AMG GTS: 1645
AMG GTC coupe: 1700
AMG GTC Roadster: 1735
AMG GTR: 1630

Includes 68kg pass + 7kg luggage + fluids.

New Vantage: 1630 (according to WhichCar). I'm not too concerned by a few KG here and there to be honest. Just ask me.

That Jet Black/Copper tan metallic spec (esp. compared to the older Vantages being advertised at the bottom of the page) looks sensational.

You would have thought they would have also photo-shopped the airbag malfunction warning smile

I think it looks better because the lights are more visible due to the contrasting black/silver. In so many other specs the lights shrink into the bumper. For the first time to my eyes at least the front end looks in proportion in this pic.

Clearly any " negative " thoughts on here appear rather outweighed by the supposedly full order books etc although I'm a little surprised by the flippers car available from Amari.

That's vaporware though. Palmer has confirmed that customer cars are yet to proceed along the production line.
Job 1 hasn't been made yet so there's no chance that Amari has anything but wishful thinking (or blatant lies - depending on opinion) for sale.

Are production cars being delivered yet?

If this is not a photoshop from scratch, it's most likely a press/dealer type car that has been photographed outside Amari and then possibly photoshopped

Having said all that, if an early customer of a regular production series Aston decides to sell early and gets a premium, personally I see that very differently to a ltd ed car being flipped - everyone has had a chance of putting in an order on a first come first served basis for new Vantage and the earlier you place your order, the more risk you take (either because the finished car hasn't been shown yet, or journo reviews aren't out, etc). Anyone who moans in those circumstances IMO should have simply got their order in sooner or accept if they weren't prepared to take the risk, they aren't in a position to complain - I accept I'm being somewhat harsh but you didn't need a relationship with a dealer to get an order in did you ?
