I think my AMR Vantage might have Apple CarPlay. Maybe in a couple of years time I’ll bother looking into it
Oh dear, no Apple Carplay, or Android Auto.
Well that's it, the deal is off.
How could I possibly enjoy driving an Aston Martin, without the very latest informationtainment system?
You will be telling me next, how I can switch on the Premium Audio.
Is all this stuff for the new breed of buyers (young / wealthy), and do they really quickly become bored with the exhaust soundtrack and the opposite locking?

Its an emotive thing but exhaust noise isn't the only reason that a person buys an aston/vantage imo!
Im glad they offer a sports exhaust on this though, just looks 'right' with 4 exhausts on it imo.
Question - journo reviews etc talk about ceramics being an option, has anyone opted for them. When I was looking at speccing one with an acquaintance of mine it wasn't even on the spec list back then. Has it since been added?

Sometimes Matt, my posts include an attempt at jocularity (which is often misunderstood). It followed Rob's comment about having tech. but not being particularly interested.
I do know that exhaust noise is not the only reason for buying. Beautiful design was the first thing that 'hooked' me. Revealed in 2003 and still admired 15 years later. That of course is a very unusual attribute, in the constantly changing car industry.

Would be a boring world if everyone thought the same.

That pretty much sums up the whole debate about the New Vantage. We all have a different opinion which we freely, sometimes repetitively, express on this forum.
We all have a true passion for the brand and all want it to succeed. We all have this in common.
Read only what you want to read and let people express their opinion, no matter if you like it or not.
Many other comparable debates about Bentley using a Q7 platform and VW Audi engines and a Diesel for their Bentayga, a Phaeton running gear for their previous gen Conti GT and Panamera platform for their new one.
At least the New Vantage doesn't share its platform with any other brand.
The Benz engine and the controversial looks will be a never ending debate, like it or not, this will remain divisive.

I've been a critic in the past but saw and went out in one today courtesy of the nice people at Grange AM, B'ham. (always made to feel welcome) and , well, bloody hell it does look cool in the flesh both in and out and goes pretty well too just like it should. Front isn't as bad as I thought it would be (though could be a little better) and interior is a lot better in right colours (bar the screen dumped in the middle). That's being picky though and loads better than the recent German micky mouse 'playstation' offerings
Walking back to my V8V I thought, that's an impressive car but st, the original is still a bit of a classic. Would I have a new one? Hell yeah, but that's not gonna happen any time soon and as I glanced back (as is usual) to mine after driving home, I was still filled with pride and not in any way dis-appointment nor envy.
Great times for AM.

Took a Vantage V8S demo out for a couple of hours this morning, and then was lucky enough to take out the New Vantage out this afternoon. WOW! What a stunning car.
Well, they are both stunning cars, the V8S was a roadster, which is my preference, but will have to wait for a year or two for the new vantage to come in roadster form unfortunately.

Can we read anything into this?
https://www.dicklovett.co.uk/aston-martin/new-car-...
Order a new Vantage, but it must be registered before 31 October 2018.
For a car without any options the cost is;
£29,000
then 23 monthly payments of £999
Having paid £52,000, you can then give the car back, when it is 2 years old.
If you want to buy when 2 years old, pay £82,000.

Forget about the looks of the damn thing , those sort of figures will put plenty of folk off it anyway.

You either pay £120k up front, then sell for £80k and lose the difference.
Or you keep the £80k in the bank, pay £52k via deposit and monthlies, then give it back instead of selling for £80k because you still have the £80k from the start.
Either way, you have lost the £52k.
This assumes the GFV is the approx the same as the depreciation. In reality the PCP will probably cost a bit more, but you dont have to find £120k up front.
