You see it just shows that we're all different, because I think the rear end and specifically the rear bumper of the facelifted R8 is absolutely hideous.

I certainly agree on that. To my eyes the back end of the Vantage is a much better looking design.

I agree, I don't even mind the single exhausts though. A lot of exhausts are oversized now though, and at least the AM ones aren't sheerly tiny pipes with a huge fake bumper exit as Audi have done before.

Guys, i prefer the Vantages rear end but i prefer the Audis exhaust tips that's all.
There is no doubt about it they are too small.

I don't mind the R8 rear end (though the exhaust surrounds aren't a highlight) and I definitely don't mind the exhaust tips. That said I don't find any issue with the size of the ones on the Vantage. I'm not a fan of the quad tips on the original R8 though as they always did look dated.

If my RS3 is anything to go by the exhaust surrounds could well be an option. Would look better without IMHO

Went for a test drive in the new Vantage yesterday.
Handling fabulous....real drivers car.
Loved the new aesthetics...front....headlights...side view ....interior...sticky up info/sat nav...wheels ....seats....etc.
Then.....just as I was about to do the deal I saw the tail pipes.
Ugh...ugh....what the feck are those ?
Couldn't get out the dealer showroom quick enough.

Thanks for the replies. I'm very glad it's not just aesthetic then.

Agree with the exhaust tip design. The new facelifted R8 demonstrates what current buyers want I think. My favoured tip style would be the Vanquish S - a design that's agressive yet very smart.

Aston Martin should take a look at the R8 on PHs front page to see how the exhaust exits should be, ridiculous those standard exhaust exits.

Dear god what have they done to it hurl

I'd be surprised if they were an option other than changing the colour as it would change the design of the bumper completely?

There's quite a lot of waffle on here about exhaust tips, plastic surrounds, drain pipes versus single pea shooters.

Then there's the small matter of a screaming NA V10 versus a mass market V8TT found in gazillions of Mercs. Thats the real point of difference.

P.S. prefer my V12VSM to either smile

Exactly. I believe the silver may be an optional colour as opposed to the black.

Silver (titanium?) is the default colour for all the trims on the V10 Performance version but it can be optioned in carbon which looks far better

The exhaust pipes on the R8 look frankly ridiculous.

New Vantage ones, to me, appear to take design clues from the original 1977 Vantage. Much classier

It's just a shame about the engine, shared with a £50K car. Wonder if they'll put the V12 in it?

I wouldn’t knock it. I recently bought a V8 DB11 and the engine is fantastic. Better than my old Vantage S and miles ahead of my old Vantage.
