Unfortunately my relationship was soured with my 570S due to significant corrosion issues at 12 months old.
Can you elaborate on the corrosion issues you had with the 570S please. I don't rule out getting one sometime but haven't done any significant research yet so am not familiar with this in McLarens. Sorry if it is well known. I can fill you in on Aston corrosion issues if you like ..........V8V Pete said:

As is often the case some owners have a good experience with the brand but there are enough that have had poor experiences to make one think twice.
All owners seem to agree that the car itself is very good.

McLaren are well aware and dealing with it. Mine is in just now for all four wings, a door and the bonnet getting replaced.
Warranty isn't £5k. It might be for the super series but the Sport series (570S) is £3700

I often look at the McLaren forum and the very different opinions owners have on their experiences.

The above is a coherent, reasonable, well thought out and sensible post - it can't be him

The psychological value point.

Thinking it over whilst taking my ablutions this evening I respond thus.....
The phrase " damning with feint praise " is apt I believe.
You are correct in intimating that many of my posts are self indulgent twaddle.
There is however a reason for my altar ego taking on the post of court jester.
I'm not blessed with mechanical skills nor ,at the latter stages of my life on Earth, is a track day
a particularly appealing prospect.
So, a few years ago, when I joined this forum a decision had to be made.
How could I contribute to the forum when raising my head above the parapet whilst lacking the skills others have and thus Avinalarf was created.
Since then water has flowed under the bridge and many new members, unaware of the history behind the quips , have joined our merry band of brothers and must think I am a complete plonker, c'est la vie, as they say in Holland.

I wish I had an Altar Ego. I was a choir boy but didn’t get any further than that.Thinking it over whilst taking my ablutions this evening I respond thus.....

Startech I believe? A new mesh and inserts for the existing grill. A little better but still doesn’t really change anything... why has this not been fixed already?
Yes.https://www.startech.de/en/products/van-250-30-per...

However hard I try I cannot make myself like the grill/mouth and it isn't even slowly "growing on me". It's a shame because it is a complete deal breaker for me even though I quite like the rest of the car (except the Merc interior bits which are surely unnecessary and should never have happened). However, I do not see them changing it for at least 5 years so I'll stick with my "old tech", "ancient platform" Vantage S which is still surprisingly satisfying given how out-dated and slow it is
