ArgieBargie,
Your car looks absolutely amazing !
Your pics and the You tube reviews have me cringing that I never said yes to onespin !
I just love this spec, and the 7 speed is going to be amazing.
I confidently say this as I have a Dogleg v12, and I absolutely love it.
Wow, what a car you have, I love it ! Congratulations !

I haven’t driven the 7 speed in the latest Vantage but have the same box in my AMR car. Have to say that once you get used to it it is so much better that the previous 6 speed box. It does take some getting used to so, for me, it is not a surprise that a motoring journalist who has very limited time with the car finds problems with it. I now have 5k miles under my belt and love it. It really does add to the driving experience. I guess if you want to look for every downside to the Vantage you can grab this headline or listen to people who have driven this box for quite a few miles. Just saying!
Hi Ian,
I could not agree more with you !
Take these journalist comments with a bag of salt, as between you and I, we have 8 000 miles of dogleg seat time and I too am totally in tune with mine. The gearbox is a joy once you've mastered it ! It just takes some seat time and muscle memory ! I too like the fact that it is different to anything out there, with no mentionable downside once you're seasoned thumbup !

It’s nice to see the ever sinusoidal feelings towards new Vantage on the up for a period (notwithstanding the ever present niggling about engines and styling). Argy, yours is stunning and I watched the AMR version develop in my last job with some delight. It fits into an very small niche so perfectly, that niche being the driver that wants to be fully engaged from the off - manual, great vehicle dynamics, motorsport inspired styling and some snappy punishment waiting if you get hamfisted with it. It’s no secret, I absolutely love the new car and it beats my V12V in every respect (and mine’s a cracker), it’s just a shame I can’t swap one for the other.

Congratulations on a stunning car, enjoy it and please keep us up to speed about how it progresses. Nice idea about a separate thread, as this one drops into the swamp periodically and I’m sure I’m not alone in moving on quickly when I see the same detrimental comment.

so what I believe to be the first new Vantage has hit the BCA website - will be fascinating to see what price it achieves. It actually looks rather nice in black - and what I think is a good contrast of interior.

Hopefully one day I can get one to sit beside the V12V

I can add another 16000 miles in mine. The gearbox is absolutely fine - from the very first I didn't have a single issue with it. My only surprise is that I never thought i would ever use AMShift, particularly as the pedals allow heel and toe (unlike the first V12 Vantages) but I now never turn it off

100 % Boy Racer !
My Am-Shift is on all the time too.
I enjoy it for the downchanges, but am not a fan of the full power upshifts.
I have tried this a number of times, but always make sure it is with a direct throw, i.e, 2 to 3 or 4 to 5 !
I never do a full power upshift across the gate.
I have a Bamford Rose secondary Cat bypass, and that V12 is such a Gem !

Just like Graze, I would love to have a New Vantage manual next to my V12 !

Do you have access to see the sold prices? Looking at the condition report + only closeup it appears to have been driven through a gravel pit at great speed... Fascinating how a 1 year old prestige car can end up like that.

There's also a 2017 Vantage S with only 3500 miles (apparently) up for sale eek

Sorry to contradict the naysayers, but has anyone else actually seen the production gear stick & pedals of the customer Vantage AMR's in the flesh or are these comments just coming from a few YouTube videos and the reviews of LHD cars? I saw mine yesterday at the dealer and was really pleased with the gearshift. Admittedly, it's no work of art but it looks good, feels great and has a nice action. Pedal layout and clutch feel are also spot on.

This Vantage is a car that really needs to be appreciated in the flesh rather than on a screen.

Can't wait to take delivery now and offend other AM PHer's with how ugly it is, apparently... rolleyes

Hey Argiebargy, just wondered if you have taken delivery as yet? Mine goes onto the line week after next...

Meant to watch this sale as interested in what it would make. Alphabet enter lots of Aston’s as they are the main funder for dealerships and being one key it is likely to be a repo, to be fair could be worse, there are also a couple of ex Enterprise car rental DB11’s currently doing the rounds, bet that’s not mentioned when they end up on a forecourt.

As for BCA inspections, a fair few Aston’s entered are listed as “poor previous repairs” when that’s actually how they left the factory.

When I read such things I always wonder how the poster knows, so question: what is the basis of your statement?

Had a slight chuckle when looking through the Aston Martin used car list. Found a customer called Mr Site Car. wink

130 UK Vantages available including a few from the 1990s, and about 50 under 1 year old Vantages.

You can now have the latest Vantage for 24 payments of £810 per month (cash price of £99,500).
The same car is being advertised for £95,995. They presumably have reduced the asking price, but forgot to do a new quote for Mr. Site Car.

Having entered a genuine one owner car that had never been painted under our clients ownership for BCA to mark as poor previous repairs.

We have also purchased a Vantage which was marked as poor paint but was in our detailers opinion all factory original.

I don`t hate the new gear knob per se, but when you consider what they have managed in the past it does look a bit like it`s not a push to imagine it`s been lifted from a Honda or Hyundai, and that`s not what you want for 150K. Cynic that I am, I imagine a Carbon, Alloy, Titanium or Moon Dust version in the spec list before too long...
Have seen worse gear knobs occasionally - but the gear knob and the pedals don't fit in with rest of car. 18 year old TT runaround in pouring rain today has much better gear knob and pedals.

Mainly use 3rd & 4th in V8V (rarely 5th and very rarely 6th in UK) - dogleg box good for tracks with hairpins (on dry tracks wink )

Congrats car looks stunning. I haven't criticised bonnet or engine and am delighted they have released a manual, nor been craving for blood over flotation. Do like the new Vantage and AMR versions and off to see the new Vantage at Le Mans for third time next year.

AML need every sale at the moment and if they can do better with gear knob and pedals as they should at this price point then they should as it's relatively easy.

DBX bonnet looks good for addition of the vents - must be mainly cosmetic as not needed for same engine in Vantage.

Apparently, according to Autocar sales are poor for the new Vantage and if you were to read the opinions that followed this article you will see why, they were very uncomplimentary, to put it mildly.

Seriously, we all know that the public's reaction to the Vantage (Gen 2) is mixed at best and generally people don't much like it. I'm not saying that as an "old foggie" which is what people get accused of on here when they say anything negative but with an AM owning son and Ferrari owning son-in-law and their friends with whom I chat about cars none of them particularly like the Vantage. It's just not a good looker.
