Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that so it’s horses for courses on the looks like / dislike front. One thing is for certain though, it’s a shame to be waving bye-bye to the classic and understated era, but I guess marketing types have done their research and aside enthusiasts who will buy anything Aston there must be more sales thought to come from footballers and new money types than sticking with the traditional Aston punter. But my guess is the styling was more steered from design than marketing because Mr Callum was undisputed king of the classic and understated pen meaning that if Aston stuck with that design language any new models would always rank a distant second now the factory is absent of the master.
DB10 looks way less fussy and way more pretty than new Vantage though, they should’ve productionalised it.

Tang yellow
Eyebrows rear diffuser
Moustache front
At least there’s no need to worry about damaging chin spoiler now

Design always subjective but I was not a fan of the DB10 which I did see at a Grange VIP Event which I graced with my attendance, dressed as a Bond villain complete with pussy.
Didn't like the headlights, nor the droopy nose thought it a bit meh,not for a butch geezer, comme moi.
Not saying the new Vantage is perfect but it does draw attention.
Interesting to read such a variety of opinions on the subject, even those that disagree with my own, perfectly formed, one.

Immediate reaction is not to like the front. But: I would like to see more pictures with number plates, I expect there will be different grill finishes which will change the appearance, and it may well grow on me. I do like most other things about it.

A couple of little grumbles - apparently no glove box, and no boot opening button on the bootlid. Is that correct?

I am disappointed by the price - perhaps it can be justified by the performance, but it has moved up from a lowish end 911 to above a GT3. At least it should help maintain the value of current cars.

I wouldn't want an automatic one to replace my V12V anyway, so I don't need to be in a hurry to make up my mind.

Is there anywhere to find out more about standard spec and option prices?

Couldn't wait to wake up and see it this morning. The first photos I saw the horrendous yellow one. Holy fk I can't understand why Aston Martin would even allow that one out there. First impressions mean a lot and that one leaves a lasting bad one. Any why the fk does it have to say Aston Martin on the bumper?

It is OK, maybe I was hoping to be blown away. It didn't have the wow factor of the Fisker design. Somethings not right about the front end grill and the rear end big ass diffuser with those teensy weensy exhaust pipes. It's just not clean, to busy. I see facelifts sooner than later.

I have not seen in person, and I know photos never look as nice as the real thing, so just have to wait and see it for real.

I’m trying to like it. Been messing around with configurator. Shame it doesn’t give the end price.

On the boot opening, correct - similar to the DB11, there's no external button - with the Vantage the shut line is somewhat hidden to mask which bits of bodywork are the boot.

I have the same opinion as when I saw it at the reveal, don't like the front mouth (numberplate actually helps imo), not keen on the diffuser (especially the inserts around the exhaust which cant be changed, think they look cheap), pipes look unfinished. The interior is way too busy and the button looks cheap, steering wheel old fashioned, cant believe they just glued a tablet to the dash and the pricing when I put together a reasonable spec came to £150k approx. I hope it grows on me and perhaps the right spec would help but its currently not for me.

On returning home from the reveal, I might be being a little harsh but this is what came to mind...

Well I think it's great! As with any car looks different in the flesh, even when a minging yellow colour! I didn't like the Vanquish when it came out, now I've had 2! I think we all struggle with "change" sometimes, especially those who love and cherish their current Vantage. I think this new model is great and will help fund more AM's to come

I like it too! It’s never possible to please everyone but I think Andy P has been true to his word in creating something distinctive, raw but obviously Aston.

I will judge properly in the flesh... and we clearly need to feel what it drives like!

What I am sure of is that I prefer it to the DB11.

Just a shame we’ve lost the sidestrake and gained gills!

Saw it yesterday at the factory and had a ride out in one of the camouflage test cars a few weeks ago. I really like it overall and technically it improves on the outgoing model in every way.

Inside there is more space and more focused cockpit with bang up to date electronics, the new seats with 16 way adjustable everything were really comfy too (priority to arthritic persons with hip replacements) smile

After experiencing the noise and smoothness of the 8 speed box using the paddles, i dont think I would go for a manual, it really was that good and sounded great in sport mode.

Some parts of the overall design dont gel in some colour schemes, but most of my personal criticisms were addressed with the configurator. I prefer different finish on the side grille area and diffuser. I was hoping for a bar type grill option (giving more a DB10 look) perhaps that could come later as there are just 3 colour options on the grille at the moment.

Its the first road going Aston with real downforce and functional aero, which explains the front splitter and underfloor design. When you lift the bonnet its a little unassuming, no real drama, lots of black ducting. Thst is a negative for some, when compared with the current engines. However the option pack includes loads of trick carbon dress up parts for the engine covers which help bling up the under bonnet appeal.

I liked some of the interior options too e.g you dont have to have the twiddly thing that Mercs have, theres a more discreet option, glass buttons are there, and many stitch and trim colour schemes to emphasise or blend in the interior design parts you like (or not) it didnt take much playing around to come up with something I liked.

A new coupe in my spec would be about £135k, which I dont think is too bad given the performance. Im waiting for the (unconfirmed) Roadster version though, i still need to put another 30-40K miles on this one before I feel Ive got my moneys worth out of it smile

Back when I went to the confidential, the remit for a spec build on the day was as close to the DB10 as possible, as a SPECTRE copy (being a Bond fan since childhood, this whole new Vantage journey has been quite special for me, the prospect of a new car, to my own spec - having only ever bought ex-demo when 'new').

The colour might change (Silver Birch or Spectre Silver, if it's possible), but it looked something like below. I mentioned on the day about having some Q touches, namely some cabin embroidery somewhere discreet as a surprise for passengers and the like biggrin

Now the bottom one is much closer to what I was hoping for !

When I saw the pics of the yellow camouflaged car I said I really didn't like the downturned "mouth" I was really hoping that would be part of the camouflage and the real thing would be part of the big reveal. Turns out it was pretty much totally accurate and one of the main features !

Agreed! I think the bottom pic is the much better image.
