The DBSS and V600 look like bad caricatures of an elegant past.
For me both the DBSS and V600 look fantastic from the front, (actually not just the front...) a "second century" upgrade or rejuvenation of a previous design that carries the brand forward. If it`s not for some so be it, but I suspect that more than half the people bemoaning aspects of these vehicles will never be in a position to buy one anyway.Mr.Tremlini said:

I agree they are both beautiful cars.Whether someone is in a position to buy one or not isn't really that relevant and it shouldn't prevent them from having an opinion on it. When I first saw the V8 Vantage revealed in 2003 or whatever it was, I was smoking around in a diesel Astra, not in a position to buy one or even having a driveway or garage to keep it. 9 years later I still loved the shape of that car and I got one, albeit a used example. So even if someone isn't in a position now, they could well be in a few years.

Anyway, I think Reichman's obsession with sharks (also look at the DB10) was allowed to go too far and the unconventional front end treatment will be this car's Achilles's heel. Just look at the positive comments about the DBS
I have to wholeheartedly agree - at the Bristol dealer's event recently we were all jostling to have a look and a sit in the DBS - it really looked like an Aston but updated; the front end was just so right. It was a muscly, murdered out Aston and with the right track inspired trends, but still keeping it classy. Still needs an integrated screen, but this is where they should be IMHO, as let's be blunt, people who love their VH Vantages are not trading in hand over fist...Gettoff said:
Good for you both, I'm glad you like them, but as previously pointed out we all like different things.

Absolutely, everyone needs a dream car!Whether someone is in a position to buy one or not isn't really that relevant and it shouldn't prevent them from having an opinion on it. Here in USA there are 175 new Vantages on cars.com and seem to be stacking up. 9mo after launch this may be concerning to AM and that's why the lease promo. The first few months sales are "easy" as it's the low hanging fruit who got to have it....I was told by an AM rep customer orders are down and it's more inventory sales which is different than historical trend. I hope AM corporate realizes they made a design mistake (front end & interior) relative to what most AM customers want (50% like it, 50% don't). I think if they go with a DBS, V600 style front it will really change the enthusiasm. My final "free advise" is the reduce the price to $135K from $150K and make duel exhaust, sport seats and prem audio standard to make it more competitive value. Most cars list for $175-200K which is a stretch. The financials will tell the story in the end as to what AM does...I wish AM luck and I want them to be successful...
191 for sale now. Seems like rather a lot (and not all dealers are on cars.com or indeed post all their inventory). I'd expect significant discounting given that winter is not a great time in most states to be driving a sports car. Brooking10 said:
Seriously considering coming back to AM with a new vantage.
As a sign of the market I have been offered £30k off list on a stock car if I sign before year end,

Are you tempted to play the negotiating game?
Presumably there might be a 31st December dealer target.
If the dealer is open between Christmas and the year end, perhaps call in, conspicuously holding your debit card, offer £50k off and you might get agreement on £40k off.
Happy Christmas.

Any stock car you like, or a particular one?As a sign of the market I have been offered £30k off list on a stock car if I sign before year end,
If it’s a particular one there may be other factors at play like a cancelled order with unusual spec and/or high margin options where they can afford to offer such a sizeable discount without losing too much their end. Just curious.
Hi both ^^^
Yes this is absolutely tied to year end
It’s on a particular car, albeit they have three in stock all with near enough identical specification bar colour and the same deal applies.
Effectively it is discounting the cost of options and OTR costs over the base price is a bit more.
Biggest issue I am wrestling with is a) the meagre p/x on my Mclaren and b) the V will be a very different less visceral car to own

Seeing as I believe the 570 Spider to be the perfect McLaren, that’s a massive change to go Vantage so I understand your dilemma.
Hi GaryBiggest dilemma is that the Mac is losing value hand over fist, on top of that its going to need an expensive warranty in 18 months and servicing is a grand a pop vs Aston now offering 5+5.
As I think you know it's an incredible car.
I do worry that I am panicking unreasonably though.
Do I jump put now rather than sit like a frog on the boiling pan or ride it out and see if things improve ................

Free servicing for 5 years and a new warranty for 3 is a comfort, that’s for sure!

Everything is depreciating and not moving at the moment - I’d go with the car you prefer and that excites you the most - you’ll lose money on any/all of them so better to enjoy it.
The Vantage is a very, very good car but the 570 is a great car
Choose wisely
