Vantage Grille
Discussion
Oh I don't doubt a weight loss program can only result in a better handling car, but it's all relative.
If you changed just the grill, and did a 'blind' test I doubt anyone would spot the difference on a lap of the track never mind the drive to Waitrose.
80Kg is good going though, I could always tell the difference in my old TVR with/without a passenger which is about the same weight saving, and even in the Type R I can see it's edges blunted with more bodies on board.

Is it just me that prefers the slatted grille?
Nope, me too. In fact the same applies to the chrome window surrounds, side vents etc. I even far prefer the original red and black rear lights versus the "lexus lights".I've modified almost every car I have owned but the V8V is, in my eyes, perfect as it left the factory. I won't be making any mods at all other than the chrome radio buttons I installed and swapping the key fob for the Jag one.
I get why they have moved away from a slatted grille on vantage, particularly in light of vantage being the motorsport model that Aston use. I can certainly see why they might give a different option if they bring out say an AMR version of DB11. But the slatted grille in general terms is a big part of the Aston identity and would be a shame to lose
As for the lights or for that matter other cosmetic enhancements & changes, I think it's often the case with all sorts of cars that the original looks best and then changes are made for the sake of change along the way, with history then looking back more kindly at the original - lamborghini countach & ferrari testarossa are two cars in particular I have in mind with that point
On my old 07 V8V I de-chromed everything (surrounds, carbon strakes, satin black mesh etc) and fitted a 6 bar satin black grille.
To me the shiny grille and window surrounds dated the car.
As an overall look I think it worked well...
I like the AMR grille but in my opinion it needs to be used in conjunction with other mods, ie I'm not too sure it's sits well with standard brightwork etc.
My V12VS has this appearance pretty much as standard which made the decision to switch even easier

Weight loss is an incremental process but it does add up and it does make a difference.
I should say so.I've managed to lose 6 lbs over the past few months.
Smaller portions,more vegetables less spuds.
It's commonsense really.
I've also found that the gals pay me even more attention than usual.....all good.

I'd agree with that, it's all or nothing. I like the fully de-chromed look, but equally like the full bling look, which is unusual for me, I'd normally be the first to be 'de-chroming' on other cars but going to leave the V8V just how it is for now, I've even took off the plinth at last to show even more of the shiny grill northernmedia said:

Exactly that. For me, 2009/2010 was perfection - uprated inside, Sport pack wheels, slatted grill and no side skirts.I've modified almost every car I have owned but the V8V is, in my eyes, perfect as it left the factory. Oh look!!
