The RAF are reforming 601 Squadron and inviting prominent business leaders to join the Volunteer Reserve & join the Squadron. Here is Group Captain Andy Palmer, standing next to the completed Red 10 in No. 5 Uniform, further cementing the links between Aston Martin, the RAF Benevolent Fund and the RAF. Brilliant IMHO!!

Red 10 is currently in the Atrium at Gaydon awaiting dispatch to us next week, so if you happen to be there you might get a sneak peek!

Thanks all, it was an epic day, all ran to plan, fortunately the weather behaved! Looking forward to a rest now, after three special projects, back to back, I’m taking 2018 off and just running a dealership for a year! Might dip back in with another project in 2019 though.....

Thanks for all the kind words, really appreciate it. At Close of Business on Monday the total ticket sales stood at £998,000, so amazingly we actually hit the £1m mark on the morning of the handover. Still have 6 weeks to run, hoping the imagery and film (coming online tomorrow so stay tuned!) will give the raffle another big boost.

There is a very strong possibility that whoever wins Red 10 will want to cash in by selling it back to us and pay off their mortgage or similar. We will take a deposit on this car subject to it becoming available. The draw takes place on 8th December. Car is unregistered, we will ask the winner to make a decision on keeping/selling promptly after the draw. If anyone is interested in securing the opportunity to own this car please drop me a line simon.lane@jardinemotors.co.uk

What sort of cash would one be looking at by not accepting the car and selling it back?

I love the idea of owning a special Aston Martin, but I think I love the idea of being mortgage free even more...
The amount we can return the winner will be dictated by how much we can sell the car for, hence I'm floating the idea now publicly. The decision on how much we return the winner sits with us. Each of the 9 cars available to purchase was sold at £275,000. Red 10 is extra special as it is Sqn Ldr Mike Ling's car. Mike is the most experience Red Arrows pilot in history and this was his final season after 9 years with the team.

The car is parked in Canary Wharf all week this week and some of the Reds/Circus stood with it all day yesterday selling tickets. I might have to give some of them a job here......

What retail price do you put on a very limited & very special Vanquish. I'am guessing it would be sub Zagato prices. I'll have a stab at it £400K
Tough one to call. Its worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I'd rather sell it to the highest bidder than put a price on it.

Valued at 250k, that's why they need to sell £2.5m worth of tickets.
Simon says owners paid £275K. My guess of £400K is the overs price it could fetch given its rarity. But its all a guess smile

We need to raise £2.5m in order to comply with our licences from the Gambling Commission. This is because the value of the prize cannot be more than 10% of the total funds raised and the car is worth £250,000.

The current closing date is Friday 1 December 2017 and the winning ticket will be drawn on Friday 8 December 2017. These dates are subject to change should we need to extend the timings of the raffle if we have not made our fundraising target. We will make any such changes clear on our website.
This information dates back to the original gambling license issued to the charity at the start of the year. The RAFBF have confirmed to me that the raffle draw will take place on Friday 8th December regardless of the total amount raised.

Last week's event gave the raffle a shot in the arm (£54,000 sold the day we released images), so I am hopeful we will get to at least £1.2m by the time ticket sales close on 1st Dec. Hopefully some wealthy bankers will take a punt this week at Canary Wharf!

Simon,

Canary Wharf is indeed full of wealthy bankers (careful everyone!). Don't know if you've thought about anywhere in the City of London too. Paternoster Square, in front of the London Stock Exchange, would be within easy reach of some very affluent people too. Just a thought.

Best of luck
Steve
Thanks Steve.

I absolutely love this Facebook live clip from yesterday. Red 1 and Red 8 giving a walk around tour of some of the special features on the car. Legends! https://www.facebook.com/rafbf/videos/101559337126...

How long will the cars be there until? Hoping to drive up from Brighton with 2 children just to admire and window lick but without the licking part ! smile
Hi Bob,

Should be with us until at least Christmas (the cars belong to the owners so they may ask for them back at any time - but I think they will be here until the weather improves in Spring). You're very welcome to come and have a look with your children. Drop me a line on simon.lane@jardinemotors.co.uk and let me know which day you are coming, I'll try and make sure I'm around to say hello in person. S

Here's what I would do if I won:

1) post a pic on Pistonheads with custard - otherwise didn't happen !!
2) a UK tour then a European tour to spread the word.
3) bounce for about a week, no sleep.
4) keep it forever.
Love it smile

Red 10 is currently out with the RAF Benevolent Fund (not being driven - only moved by trailer and being lovingly cared for!), coming back us shortly for final prep & detail before being presented to the winner. Raffle closes on 1st December, winner will be drawn on 8th December. Ticket sales stand at just over 60,000 sold/£1.2m raised. The money will go a long way in helping provide support for our veterans and their families. Not long to wait now!

Bob,

Apologies I've literally just had a call from the owner (same person owns both cars) to say he wants them home and is sending a truck tomorrow to collect. Sorry I can't keep them here any longer, but they are not our cars. We will have Red 10 back here in the next week and I am planning to put it in the showroom until the raffle draw. Drop me a line on my e-mail, let me know when you want to come up and we will make sure you get to see it before it goes.
