Car sold to a fellow forumite, which I am glad about. He was the first to view, so actually was one of those "first to view will buy" adverts, and I did write it honestly and tried to include everything I would have liked to know as a prospective buyer.
I will miss the Aston, but really it makes sense to have an LHD on the continent really. What I get next, mind you, is completely undecided. I'll definitely have another Aston but might play the field a little first.
What a car.
Everyone else, drive them in good health. It's been a pleasure to meet some of you, and when I next visit the UK I'd love to attend a meet or something
So long, and thanks for all the smiles.

As soon as your car came up for sale the advert dragged me in. Brilliant advert and stunning looking car. As an early car it looked like one of the best out there. There was even a thread over on SportsMaserati where it got a mention for how lovely it looked as a few are thinking about getting into an Vantage. Well done on the sale the new owner has a great looking car.

Thanks Andy. It's really nice to hear that Obviously miss the car a lot - currently using my mum's Nissan Note to get around...!
Well, I’ve relocated to Switzerland, and don’t need a car for my daily commute, but I am looking for a set of wheels. I could get something more “normal” and practical, and just get on with life, but then I keep looking at nicer cars.
There’s a decent Boxster S (981) for sale locally to me, and they are practical and probably fast enough, and definitely will be newer feeling than my Vantage. Having said that... I keep looking at cars, such as a Corvette C6 and C7... which do look cool and will be fast, but then I keep coming back to the Vantage. In some ways I feel I should try something new but I just can’t stop looking at them. I know how beautiful they are and how good they sound. A lotus Evora might be an interesting shout I suppose.
Most of them here are autos, which I don’t really want. I really liked the gearbox in the vantage and would have another with it. But it limits me. Also, I could hold out for a 4.7 model. At the very least I guess I would go newer than my last (lovely) car for the newer seats and possible factory Bluetooth etc.
Any advice/tips? I mean, I know I’m in the Aston forum...

That's nice but out of budget unfortunately.
Going to look at a sportshift roadster.
I did love my manual coupe but the weather is good here and as an occasional use car the roadster has its appeal, especially for the summer. Dunno. The coupe always looks great, mind you.
Really missing my car

Didn't like the sportshift. I knew how to drive it just fine, but decided that there was no point in "making do" for something not quite what I was after.
I have driven an F-type V6S 'vert which was really quite nice. There is also a V8R coupe for sale miles away that I might consider... it's no Aston but there are none in my budget here and I am getting itchy feet and can't narrow down the car I want until a suitable Vantage makes its way to me.

Well, I am back!
Different car, but almost the same. 2007, so I have the newer seats, and it has an upgraded centre console. Manual, 29,000 miles (same as I bought my last car, weirdly), Tungsten (my absolute favourite). The car is on the 18" wheels, and the ride extremely comfortable. I think I will get a set of 19s for the summer, and turn these into winter wheels. 18" winter tyres should be cheaper, so that would be nice!
I am the third owner, last owner had it for the last 5 years and is selling as he was given a good deal on a McLaren. Amazingly, he flew me from my local airport in the Black Forest over to Mannheim, from where I drove back.
I have already performed the "radio knob upgrade", and have the silver seat controls too, but as yet uninstalled.
It's weird driving the same car but from the left side; I prefer the new style seats, so I am glad I have those. The car has a parrot module installed, but I plan on the whole carplay setup. Premium Audio, which is very important to me! What else? Oh yes, it has the red lights on at the moment, and my last car had clears. I still think I could possibly "upgrade" as they are a different look, but with more cars over the lexus-white-light trend, red now looks more modern, weirdly enough. I am on the fence.
I can't believe the car is 12 years old...!
The roads around me here are better than around Cambridge, so I am definitely making use of the car. Had some near-traction-limit tests around Schauinsland today and with fuse 22 the car sounds superb.
I plan on a few subtle mods, nothing too shouty. Except maybe the BR exhaust system.
I'll update the thread with photos. Went for a drive today and didn't really stop! I completely forgot to take some piccies as I was too busy enjoying the drive.

Great questions.
They are indeed burgundy chinos; or RedPants™, lol. I bought them soon after attending an Aston Charity event a couple of years ago where no-one believed I was a fellow owner, with my Volvo key. Now, there’s no issue.
I am wearing “trainer socks” or some such. I am fortunate to live somewhere rather hot with a real summer. Notice how my chinos don’t have a full break, and I am not wearing a suit. Hell, I am not even wearing trainers, as I reserve those the gym or other special occasions. I shouldn’t be wearing boat shoes but I’m still learning.

Random IT: someone kind enough to explain me the red pants joke? Are we, as Aston owners, obliged to adhere to some kind of osbcure fashion rule involving red pants unbeknownst to me?
I can reply while the safety car is on track, yet again. TV is not Sky by the way.
Some time ago it was noticed that red trousers had become popular amongst the older members of AMOC.
Jokes followed. Dr. Bez even appeared at an event with red trousers and also red shoes.
Red pants I think is the American version for red trousers. Perhaps they need to be careful going out wearing pants, when visiting the UK. -
She currently runs on the standard 18-inch option, which I intend on turning into the winter wheels. Stay tuned for the 19-inch option!
I also plan on probably the black 6 bar grille and N400 rear diffuser, potentially clear lights, though the last car had them and red is back in fashion. I would like some interior carbon as well, but that's expensive ****.
Oh, and I plan on doing a full BR exhaust system, and other mods as time goes by.
I took her out to the centre of the black forest, to get acquainted with the roads around here. The turn-in is really good, as good as the Boxster I would say. Lots of power, and sounds lovely. Turned off traction control so I could have some fun with the back end around some hairpins, and the car feels really balanced. Lovely weighty steering with lots of feedback.

Make sure you put Michelins on the 19-inch wheels, not Bridgestones.shinjuku said:

Is the DSC just on or off on a 4.3 or do you have Track Mode as well? Whenever I'm "on it" I use track mode as it allows more fun and stops the car devouring its rear brake pads at an alarming rate.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
