If AM were really smart they'd give out ferraris porsches etc as loan cars, subtlely doctored with annoying faults and glitches.

Nope that's the the hire car company being opportunistic and trying to bend over the 3rd party for as much as they can take them for.

Nothing to do with service, just increasing insurance premiums at play.

When my Range Rover went in for some warranty work last year if I remember correctly the dealer offered me a Vauxhall Corsa as a loaner. I did politely decline in the basis that it didn't have a tow bar or room for a cow in the back so wasn't much use.
