We got one from Avis last year, and although they claim the boot will take two suitcases the reality was quite different. It was ok to drive, but not good for luggage with three passengers.

In case we get another one this year, could someone tell me the real dimensions of the boot with the boot floor in place? Their website claims 99cm wide and 59cm high, and 72cm front-to-back. I suspect that's the maximum, at the base of the seats, so what's the depth at the top of the seats?

Of course Avis will probably have found an even smaller mid-size when we get there biggrin

Thanks

If the seats split fold. Just fold one side down. Its only for the trip to and from your campsite/hotel. Your not going to travel about with your suitcases all holiday.

Thanks, just edited my post, I meant to write 3 passengers.

It's not really a PH car, is it...

No way you can get 3 cases in one. I've just come back from Sardinia. I booked a 'focus estate or similar' with Hertz, they put me in one of these.

I tried valiantly to get the 3 cases and 4 people in. Me, wife and 2 kids on car seats. Was not happening. Ended up with an insignia estate from another. Ritual couple who downsized to have my manual as didn't want the auto vx, a stroke of luck for sure!

Fortunately BA lost our luggage on the way out, and we got someone else to bring one suitcase back to the airport on the way back, but the boot is really tiny.

I see Avis now say it will take 2 bags, not suitcases. Although they don't say how big the bags are...

PS: Perhaps I should've asked PH if I could shoehorn a V8 in the boot? Someone must be 'lucky' enough to own one.

(A tape measure).

You ever tried to go anywhere with a female? A small amount of luggage to one of those creatures is both of her suitcases and using my allowance for a third of hers. We were going away for a week. I planned on taking effectively one empty suitcase so I could fill it full of trinkets. I managed to pack mine in the one suitcase I had with the clothes I had, and she got very annoyed because she couldn't fit a week's worth of clothes and a few little souvenirs in three suitcases.

OP - for what it's worth, I have an Avis Citroen C4 Cactus on the drive this week and I'm pleasantly surprised at how roomy it is inside. I believe this is a Group C? Whatever the basic small hatchback is. You'd be happy with the space inside this.
