Fallen for a DB11
Discussion
Congratulations OP!
Never really had much desire for Aston's. Pretty enough (particularly the early DB9), but always thought they were be big, heavy, tourers.
Yesterday, my brother-in-law went for his 2nd DB11 test drive, I tagged along and the salesman was kind enough to offer me a drive as well. BIL had already driven the V8, so yesterday was the V12.
What a car!
Didn't think the DB11 was particularly good looking when I saw them in the magazines, but in the flesh it's a magnificent thing. A bit colour dependent though. They had 4 in the dealers - a white one (that we drove), black/silver, black/black and green. Didn't think the white one looked right, or the black with silver roof arch. But black and green both looked fabulous.
Thought it would feel like an (expensive) 6er, or mustang to drive, but nothing like that at all... it drove as good as it looked - plenty fast, amazing ride quality, and very agile for such a heavy car.
I left the dealers completely smitten!
Here's the car he's picking up Wednesday... V12 in (special order) Alloro green, with gloss black trim, black interior with yellow stitching.

A great write up, Chris. Began uninterested, and finished smitten.
Well well. It sounds as though you might want one for yourself now.
If you are like me, can afford new but a bit stingy, a three year old one is usually the Aston Martin financial sweet spot.
They are selling really well now, so there will be a great choice of 'as new' cars in two years time onwards.

Interesting how desires change. A year ago, BIL bought a 991 GT3. At the time, it would have been one of my dream cars. Drove it, loved it, but almost immediately realised it would be something I wouldn't actually buy even if I had the money. Enjoyment window was just too narrow - it only worked when you were really 'on it', and when you're 'on it' in a GT3 you're going so fast you'll either go to jail if you get caught, or die if you crash. The Aston just has a broader range of abilities.

Deal done. Collection Wednesday. Extremely happy...and will change my role call status accordingly when I've got a chance :-)
Lucky lad.I don't own an Aston at the moment, but was invited to give an 11 the beans at a track recently. I was hugely impressed. The other element of sparkle is that I think it looks utterly gorgeous.
There's a good Harry Metcalf vid on U-Toob somewhere.
Enjoy the car.

Indeed. I felt the same. I tested most GTs in the price bracket and the DB11 ticked all the boxes for me...in real life (not photos) it's bite-the-back-of-your-hand beautiful, alongside that it's comfortable as anything at 30 miles an hour, then in supersport mode it's a 3.9sec 0-62 maniac that pushes you far back into your seat.Speaking of seats, the 5'10" salesperson (Aaron) sat in the back for the test drive as my girlfriend sat up front. He had his legs at a normal position, not scrunched up. That just simply isn't the case with the DB9 I traded in.
The boot is bigger, the cockpit entertainment and digitalised stuff is superb. The ride is like sitting on a cloud until you switch the on-wheel damper controls.
Excellent in every way.
Yep - it's my everyday car from Wednesday (YEY!) and I seem to be the first DB11 on the roll call here...!

3.9s 0-60 is probably a bit misleading... traction limited. It will be (relatively) much faster once rolling... felt easily as fast as BIL's P90D Tesla once moving, and that thing is unbelievable.Speaking of seats, the 5'10" salesperson (Aaron) sat in the back for the test drive as my girlfriend sat up front. Infotainment is all provided by Mercedes, so should be reliable too.
it's just a fabulous car, and I'm very jealous you get to use one daily!
Edit... insurance... try NFU. BIL has his P90D, Cayenne V8S Diesel and GT3 insured with them for well under £1,000 total.

Wow, one of the best looking I have seen. The cars look so great in Silvers, Blacks, Aston Greens, and not the odd looking two tones. Aston will tweak this model over the coming years into a real stunner. You can already see it evolving with the changes to the DB11 V8.V8 Vantage GT said:
