Everything has its price! Probably any AM parts department but you may need an exchange unit? And they're likely to be £10-15k??

Any Aston Martin dealer.

Yes.

Something like £20k for the unit or £15k if you swap it for a broken engine.

I don't believe they will sell them on a crate basis though - I believe you've got to show a reason why you want one.

Source: private research a few years back for a never started project.

Forgot to say just the alternator and PAS pump are different to a V12 Vantage S engine.

Come on, don't play with us. What are you planning to do with it?

I expect OP is dissatisfied with the standard performance of a V12VS.
Needs to improve the power to weight ratio.

This provides far better acceleration, but the cornering might be tricky.

On a similar note, I've been trying to find out where to find a DB9 / Vantage / Vanquish body, without having to buy a CAT D or similar. There's an itch to scratch for a daft race car build (what you'd call a non jelly mould Funny Car). I wouldn't need a V12 S lump though...

I thought dragster funny cars had lightweight glass fibre bodies.

Perhaps you could make a mould using your own Vantage.
Hopefully with the right release agent, there might be nothing to worry about. Everything should be fine afterwards.
If any stubborn sticky patches do remain, Paddy can use his magic potions.

Way back when, they were indeed glass - originally based off a road going variant. My Corvette body would have started life as a regular C3 at one point, and then the guys building the bodies started altering them to tuck big tyres under the arches and the like, ending up with quite mean looking stuff biggrin. The current day ones are all carbon fibre, but don't resemble road cars.

The loose plan was to get a body from somewhere, take a mould off it and section it to suit the wheelbase (125" is a bit longer than most road cars). Maybe one day it'll happen, we'll see...

6.5 is pretty easy, bore it out. New pistons, replace the connecting rods with better quality parts while you're at it. Then induction and exhaust sides of top of engine need work. A chap that used to post on here a lot - Lewis (Yeti) had that done by Bamford Rose. I don't know what he's up to these days, but he's a lovely chap and if you ask nicely I'm sure he'd be able to give you some pointers.

More than that requires a rotating/reciprocating parts - crank, connecting rods.

I had a project to do this to a V12 Vantage (original not the V12V with Bosch ECU).

The mechanical side is costly but feasible (the new Crank will be hard to source - not many firms have experience of building V12 cranks from billet).

But can you get into the ECU or do you need to bin the Bosch parts and go with Pectel or other?

Really interesting project though - please do keep the thread updated.
