Sounds fun and a really affordable exclusive at under £300 and Locktons give me track day insurance included smile. Its not a track car but would be fun to do a dozen laps and have a bit of a social - especially with some pro instruction top tips to boot.

What circuit layout will it be as they have a dull oval through to a highly technical one. And thanks for sorting Paul!

Hi Ken, It will be the international circuit, I agree the oval would be a tad boring.... Its a great infield section at Rockngham, great fun.

Don't forget to put your name on the list,...

I'd be interested but, from experience, would be turned away if the noise limit was 105db (and I would not be interested in travelling hundreds of miles to find out how accurate the term 'non strict' is). The GT8 is considerably higher than 112db which is about as high as "noise limited" track days go.

If you go down the "unsilenced" route you mentioned earlier, I'd be very interested.

Also I'd rather pay more but have less traffic? 60 cars is a huge number, even if you were to session it 50:50. 40 would make for a far better event (split into 2 groups alternating half hourly)?

Last week I attended a private track day at Silverstone. Expensive, but exceptionally well organised with no more than 10 cars on track at any one time + no noise limit + an instructor on hand all day + mechanics + lunch etc etc.
Petrolburners,

This is the email I received from Will at Rockingham regarding the noise level.

Hi Paul,

Hope you had a good weekend and apologies for the delayed response.

112db is certainly loud, considerably louder than this would be the kind of noise levels associated with fully prepped race cars. If he indeed was louder than 112db we would struggle to get him on, the only thing we could suggest is that should he fail we let him out to be monitored on drive by, if he does ping the monitors and bring us over our noise limits we would need to stop the whole session for 15 mins.

Hope this helps!

Some great footage just sent over by AMDBSVNick for those of you who have not been around Rockingham.

Why can't they give us an unsilenced day. Looking on the website the open track days seem to cost the same whether they are 98dB or unsilenced.

Well Will who I have been dealing with, his last email was this, so will see what they come back with.

"Totally understand, would be a shame to not get the car there too.

Let me have a chat with our circuit manager, he’s out of office today so I’ll get back to you tomorrow if that’s ok?
Thanks,

Will

Update.......

Petrolburners one for you....

Message back from Will at Rockingham.

Hi Paul,

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you, just an update, been having a chat with our circuit manager and both agree that it would be a shame to have an Aston Martin event and exclude models for noise restrictions. Therefore we will raise the noise limitations on the day to accommodate!

Thanks,

Will

Not sure I'm brave/stupid enough to track the Aston just yet but would be interested in just having a drive over to watch/blag passenger laps if that was allowed. scratchchin

Watch my video posted above. Barely more than 6 - 8 cars out at any one time. Safe as houses.

Its so safe you will be surprised, you can go at your own pace, no one will carry out any touring car manoeuvres on you biglaugh

There will be a "Strictly NO Racing" policy in place on the day. And you will be wearing the biggest grin on your face for weeks after.

In fact I enjoyed it so much I sold my previous Aston and had a race car built and did it properly for a while... LOL.... Then ran out of money and bought another Aston.... biggrin:

Right then, come on all you GT8 (and GT12) owners, get yourselves signed up to give your car this rare opportunity to stretch its legs (and lungs)!
