LOL just had a read of some new posts....

No racing, no fastest laps... Just good clean fun is all this is.... As long as we all check our insurance policies to see what cover we have and have all the appropriate stuff in place all will be fine.

My insurance with locktons gives me full cover for AM only track days "which this is" so if someone does hit my car its covered! if I lose control and come off resulting in damage? its covered...

As long as we all remember its just a fun day for us all to enjoy our cars...

I cant wait for this day...

Are we all agreed to cap the numbers to 40 cars???

How many were there last time?

I agree a cap is sensible but there will be people who drop out between now and then so I would suggest it's worth having a reserve list.
Well I will be looking for some commitment in forms of ££ in the new year.... A reserve list is a good idea, I will update the list once or if hit the 40 number....

Merry Xmas everyone....

I have just got back from holiday to find an email from Will from Rockingham.....

Am I the only one who would suggest the Sunday 22nd???? As offered at no additional cost ether... I can see this making the whole event much better for all??

I will keep bumping this thread just to make sure we all see it. Also in the next few weeks I will start grabbing peoples email addresses etc for the final confirmations for the day.

Hi Paul,

Hope you are well and getting enjoying the festive season so far?

I’m emailing as we have had a slight shift in our calendar which has resulted in the 21st April needing to be offered for a race meeting test event. All is not lost though as this has freed up a few other options which should still work for you:

Friday 6th April
Sunday 22nd April
Friday 4th May

To confirm, if the Sunday was an option for you I would honour the weekday rate.
Let me know if any of these are suitable alternatives?

Many thanks,

Will

Speaking personally, I am quite happy with Sunday. It's looking possible that is one of 'my' weekends with daughter. In that case I will have a 14 year old in tow.

On similar note can we invite mates along? Not to drive but as spectators or passengers?

This will seem premature and it may have been dealt with but will there be food/drink to buy?

Thank you for your efforts in organising this.
Paul
You can bring people with you, that's no problem.... From memory there is a café there.

TBH I am going to have to make it the Sunday as the other 2 dates they offered I cannot make.

No issues here - in fact more of a reason to ask if anyone knows a nice little nearby pub with rooms/hotel that has good parking and so make a weekend of it?
There is a great hotel just by the circuit, I remember a good few of us all stayed there before...

OK so the Sunday 22nd of April is now the new date. I will confirm this with Rockingham.

Just chipping in with something that we tried at the previous Aston Track Day at Rockingham.

We allocated a 1 hour slot straight after lunch for 'Novice drivers only'. What I mean by that is normally 'The Other Half' who is normally a passenger for 99.5% of the time but would love to have a drive but feel unsure/not confident on a public road.

We ring-fenced the 3 professionals that we had for the day along with Adrian from BR who provided basic level instruction to the 'Partners' and let them have a drive without worrying about normal 'Public Road Hazards'.

It went down very well with my other half fitting a good ten laps in.

Just a thought...
Excellent idea.... I was thinking about this and remember we did the same on the last one I attended.

22nd OK for me.

Tyres question.

Corsas on the rear will be nearing end of life by April.

I could replace them before the track day, but this seems a little hard on the new ones.

I could use the old ones for the track day, but then risk being on the limit for the drive home.

Ideally, it would be nice to turn up with replacements, see how the old ones get on, then change to the new ones for second half / drive home.

Are there facilities at Rockingham for this kind of thing?

David
Hi Dave,

That's a good question, from memory there are no onsite facilities for this.... Same with all track days unless your with a race team with spares etc...

I for one will trailer my car there and bring a set of track slag wheels for the day...

I had an offer from someone to supply friendly track day assistance which I am currently chasing up...

But if your tyres are near replacing id just go with a new set, unless your going to be taking kerb and flat out all day long I think you will be ok...

Now then,

I’ve just popped myself on the reserve list. I’ve been deliberating for a couple of weeks after seeing the post. The usual “now every place is taken, I wish I’d signed up” feeling has just kicked me up the rear!

If anyone does cancel, I’ll immediately move my name up, plus, this suggestion of bringing wives, might just make a weekend of it and as someone already pointed out, a driver all the way home after maybe a few at the end of the day!

Is there a bar!?
LOL I know for a fact that we do not actually need to cap the numbers at 40 so I will increase the number to 45 as I'm sure when it comes to nearer the day some people will have things come up and drop out etc. So I will increase the number to 45. I also know that even if we had 50 cars there, there is plenty of room for everyone.

I bet most people will manage 10-15 minutes tops driving at speed on any one time out so we wont all be out there together.

The other reason I wanted to cap it was so that when it comes to the money side we all know exactly what we are paying, once we have all paid, its then awkward if some one else wants to come along and would cause a headache. LOL

You utter star! Thank you very much! I see I’m already up on the list, so amazing news!

I am very excited, now just need to explain the importance and highly educationally necessity to attend this day to my ever loving wife, plus I’ll also have to break the news that new curtains will have to wait another month or three!

Get in!

I presume we need to turn up with a full tank of fuel!?
LOL your welcome, As mentioned there is loads of room for us all.... And a possible splitting of the groups may be a good idea too.

Your wife should come along too, mines coming, shes even having a drive as well... And cost if we get all 45 places filled will be under £300-00 est... Final maths come later.

Compare that to a Gold track day at most circuits are well over £450-00 and your out there on track with all sorts, this one we are all in the same boat, same interests and just a fun day out.

There is a fuel station on site but as with all race track stations the price is slightly higher. I always bring my own.

Track day check list.
Trailer
Fuel
Track wheels/tyres
Trolley Jack
Torque wrench...

Now on the wife/girlfriend thing I've had similar issues when saying maybe she will be able to punt her round at her own pace with the other ladies (if that happens)... She said ' no thanks - will be like driving a lorry 'round compared to mine'. Haven't spoken to her since!!!!
LOL Once she sees everyone else's Mrs going round she will have a go.... Mine cant wait, I have insured her on it now so she can start to get a feel for it as her usual drive is an auto and hasn't driven a manual for 4 years.

I'm booking hotel now, might even stay the Sunday night as well... Be nice to chill out have some dinner and drinks after a flat out day..

Good Afternoon Drivers.... biggrin

So at present we have 42 names down for the day, I WILL NEED ALL THE MONEY IN BY 28th of FEB as I will have to pay Rockingham in March, so as it stands with this number the total cost per CAR will be £270-00 which includes the photographer.

If we reach the full 45 it will work out at £254-00 Per CAR.

Payment by bank transfer using your forum name as payment reference and then email confirmation to info@powerpest.co.uk stating;

1, Your place number on the list.
2, Your forum name.
3, Full name & car model.

Once you have emailed me that you are committed to the day I will email back bank details.

Now obviously I am organising the event, If we end up with less than these numbers we will ALL have to make up the difference, as I'm no millionaire I don't want to have to pay any short fall as I imagine you would all agree would not be fair.

All money will be non refundable....unless that slot can be filled by another person in which you "the"person dropping out should obtain the fee from a new driver.....

I have also had confirmation today that David Appleby Engineering will be donating their time for the whole day along with a few pit crew to assist us all day FREE OF CHARGE, this will be to help out with minor bits like advice, wheel changing, tyre pressures and more etc... Not sure if you're all aware but they run cars in the British GT, so in great hands..... www.davidapplebyengineering.com

They have also offered us at a fee of £300-00 Matt George British GT driver for some additional instruction and one on one tuition.
I would imagine we need to limit him to maybe 10 people realistically. www.racing.gt/2016/06/introducing-matt-george

I might (still waiting to hear) have bagged a Vulcan to be there for the day, not for any of us to drive sadly but would be great to see that out there as well.

There are still 3 places left so if your interested get your name down... This is only 13 weeks away.....
