Aston Martin only track day
Discussion
Every one keep your eyes out for the next one... Am thinking April/May next year...
Will have to see what the race calendar dates are before I book anything, but I'm sure we all agree that Rockingham will be the venue.
I think its possible to achieve 40-45 cars next time around? the track wasn't at all crowded with 30 odd cars...
Also some ideas to make the day better, already I have had confirmation from Weybridge Aston Martin that they will be coming to the next one, I think get some catering laid on in the pit garages rather than walk 10 miles for a bacon roll
The legend that is... David Appleby will be happy to return maybe with a good few sets of wheels and slicks for hire and maybe a race car or 2 for passenger rides etc.
I will keep on thinking of ideas... Oh and one more thing, more wives & GF's next time, my Mrs loved the weekend and to be honest after all the long race weekends she came to, she wasn't totally looking forward to it which I can understand, but she thoroughly enjoyed the day and all the socialising too.... She cant wait for the next one ....
I know I have said already but thank you all that came, a really great bunch and was one of the best weekends car related I have had...

I’m in . . . . If I’ve got an engine that is !! Will have to see what the race calendar dates are before I book anything, but I'm sure we all agree that Rockingham will be the venue.

Huge thanks Paul! . Had a great time. .smoking!
Paul,
My 2p:
I would agree that having some drinks and snacks at the pits would be a good idea, it was a pita walking so far just for a bottle of water etc.
Open pit format was superb, please dont change it.
Ladies only time IMO was unnecessary. The girls were fine going out with the rest of us.
Keep numbers low. I’d rather spend the extra few pounds having more space. 45 max which I think was your original plan.
Obviously priority booking for those of us that did it this time round, as I expect the interest will rise now people know we didnt all have a pile up and die in some freak fireball accident.
The idea of DA renting rims with tyres on the day is worth pursuing.
Dean should be invited FOC each year (with his car to also take part of course) as his pictures are stunning and he is a top bloke giving up his paid track time to take snaps of the rest of us.
Thanks again for such a good day. It was the best trackday I have attended, no macho crap, just a loads of kids having fun with their toys. Well done fella, you and your missus were charming hosts and set the friendly tone for the event.

Unfortunately I can't come but I've been lucky enough to have done it before. I did Rockingham at the end of '16 with a few others which was a real privilege, a real millionaires day out.
The quick witted will realise this was taken at the end of the day, along with video, linked below.

Haha! I remembered this and just sifted back through the pages to find it. I had a similar experience as I left the hotel the morning after and, with just a sniff under half a tank, my car reckoned 70 miles was the limit! The quick witted will realise this was taken at the end of the day, along with video, linked below.

I was down to 6.6 mpg over the day. Must've been all those parade laps lifting the numbers...J12MOC said:
Does anyone have any pictures of my ‘ incident ‘ at Rockingham that they would share with me? I have asked Dean, but he was on the other side of the pits.
Thanks for the kind messages - I’m still evaluating options, but the engine is totalled!
We were on the pitwall, but too busy trying to find the nearest fire extinguisher (fortunately not needed). Trust me though, it looked spectacular from the outside! Thanks for the kind messages - I’m still evaluating options, but the engine is totalled!

On a side note, request for any photos of J9 DOP running around the track would be appreciated!

It looked pretty spectacular in the mirrors! Here’s the view from inside. . . . https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jla9EDlkmqc
