Well rumours of "is the new Flagship going to be a Vanquish or new DBS" seem to be squashed. Caught up with dealer today and deposit down on the 2018 DBS smile He told me a revealing/launch will be held in May at Gaydon and delivery will be late Q4 2018. Guess this also ties in well with the new bond film.

He couldn't confirm price but expected slightly higher than Vanquish S. Power wise he said not confirmed yet but will be either 715 or 725! Certainly looking forward to this! Will update if I hear anymore.

Great to hear about another DBS order.

News about the car is not new though Mark.
I read about it on this forum, several months ago.

But nobody knew for certain whether it would be DBS or Vanquish, nor the power output.

Should go well!

Presumably there will be a Vanquish too with even more power?

Yes I think we all knew a new flagship was due out but didn't know the designation with some saying DBS and some saying Vanquish. I might be wrong but I don't think there will be a DBS and a Vanquish just or the other. So we shouldn't expect a new Vanquish for a few years until DBS production is finished as DBS will sit as latest flagship? 700+ BHP will be something amazing though smile

I didn’t think it had been confirmed before either, just speculation. I wonder if that saves the Vanquish name for the mid-engined flagship car scratchchin

It would tally with my understanding of the plan. On the technical front, the power level seems correct (I was told North of 700 and less than 750), the only other details I know of related to the choice of rear tyre (305's rather than the DB11's 295's).

Lastly, congratulations - a friend at Gaydon involved in the project tells me the DBS will be a mighty bit of kit, and quite rapid thumbup

Obligatory photo...

They did Nick, but it would of course be improper for AM secrets to be revealed.
Subtle hints and reading between the lines, is perhaps as close as we ought to go.

( Sometimes when a dealer is thrilled to have taken an advanced deposit on a flagship model, they inadvertantly slip out the answer to an oblique question. )

No-one knows what they can say or can't. I don't even share speculation on here now as Gaydon were more worried about my speculation on the DBS mule I saw on the public road months back than actually finishing my car correctly.

Mark, as they've haven't officially launched the name, I wouldn't be surprised if you get whinged at.

I'm finding it harder and harder to be enthused by Aston as a company these days. Hopefully the cars deliver and I can see past it.

Ross, that seems ridiculous. A hardly disguised development car, being driven on public roads, and they don't expect any dash cams to even see it, or any enthusiasts to wonder about it. They must be playing games.

At least with the new Vantage development cars, they did make the effort to disguise them as DB11s, although an AM employee was overheard at a public event, saying that was going to be their 'secret' plan.

Some of you might have been told about AML having some fun with the Press years ago. They drove around a completely spoof development car. They seemed pleased to obtain the resulting cheap coverage.

It's not that simple IMO

There has definitely been a problem in recent years of a difference of opinion, depending upon who you ask, as to what dealers think is confidential and what the factory think the dealers should know is confidential

That leads to an inconsistency between which dealers tell which customers what information and when they tell them

However if a dealer tells someone info as per the OP, you don't need telling it's confidential to know that it's confidential. As a general rule of thumb, those who actually know the most seem to say the least publicly and visa versa.

So called spyshots of test cars are a different matter and the factory understand / don't mind people speculating on them in general terms. However what can happen is that those who spend a fair amount of time speaking to people at the factory & dealer/s can use tiny snippets from here and there to piece together an overall picture when combined with spyshots. Their musings might not contain any one single betrayed piece of confidential information, but 'educated guesses' and speculation are more likely to lead to something accurate by someone in that position than they are by the average Pher solely commenting on spyshots without the advantage of what might be thought of as innocuous snippets in their own right

That's certainly what happened with me and is why I've been speculating far less publicly in recent months, despite me screaming & wincing at my computer screen at times in response to some posts :-)

I'm not having a go at the OP or others that post - it's not my place to do so. But I don't think such people should be surprised if the factory don't like it, especially because I'd reiterate, you don't need telling by the dealer that the type of info in the OP is at the very least, sensitive.

Looks really good from the spy shots - quite excited by this.

I wonder if Aston have any plans for an AWD variant.

I´m afraid it´s still all camouflaged, but what´s pictured here would be a remarkable swing-back to a classic elegant headlights design. How on earth did the design team manage to achieve that.

Hopefully not, they were pretty clear about not discussing the Vanquish S when I put my deposit down before it was announced and likewise with the Vanquish Ultimate. Nobody said anything about keeping quiet with the DBS and previously it was mentioned multiple times to keep it quiet so I'm not sure there is any secrecy here.

In relation to the name it follows that it would be a DBS and not a Vanquish brand given the previous DBS was succeeded by a Vanquish, unlikely for a Vanquish to succeeded by another Vanquish and not a DBS. BUT who knows! All I know is that I hope it is a cracking car smile

At 300 it will have to be absolutely brilliant to better the 812. It may well be epic but that would be very strong pricing.

I think they might be a bit lower, but either way, twice the price of a decent spec new Vantage.

Similar formula from entry to flagship as in the past? In 06 a V8V was around 80k, Vanquish S around 160k?

Not saying it isn't a very large amount, but probably proportionally not far off the way the range has been spaced before.
