New Aston Vantage
Discussion
I probably shouldn't, but I do slightly worry that a new buyer of one of these Vantages is going to do a google search and come across this forum and then swiftly move on having concluded that we hate the car and all things Aston Martin
Personally the design is growing on me more as I get familiar with it (but not that lime launch colour). But even if it wasn't I don't think there's any need to come on here and repaeatedly post how ugly you think someone's future car is (and there are buyers on here). If someone posts a picture of a car I don't like, I just don't say anything.
This thread has turned into 80 pages of hate mail. Isn't it enough already?

I agree it is getting a bit monotonous. I am not a fan of the new car but that only matters to me. There are lots of cars I dont like and few I do, so I buy the ones I like just like the rest of us.
You do have to be a bit thick skinned on forums though. My choice of car is a black DB9.2 which, from what I can gather, according to some posters on here should make me late middle aged and very John Major with my choice of colour. They might be right but I like it so they can go fk themselves .

Come on Mr. Major, stop hiding behind your pseudonym and tell us what you really think! RobDown said:

Since when do you base yourself on other people's opinion to buy an Aston Martin? We wouldn't have bought an Aston in the first place if that were the case.
Everyone seemed to think they were breaking down, all looked the same, blah, blah, blah!
I think we are sufficiently grown up to make up our own minds, whatever the critics say.
People have the right to say they don't like the new car, it gets boring if they repeatedly say so, buy everyone's entitled to have an opinion, be it negative or positive.

Of course your entitled to your opinion, I have never said otherwise. But if you repeat it over and over and over and over again it’s tediousWe wouldn't have bought an Aston in the first place if that were the case.

And having an opinion and being polite are two entirely different things. You wouldn’t wander up to an owner at a get together and sit there telling them over and over (repeat as required) that you thought their car was hideous. So why do people feel that’s acceptable on here?
You don’t like the design, that’s fine. Say so once and then move on, don’t bring it into every SINGLE thread on the new car

Hopefully owners will spend more time inside, driving, than outside looking! That's where the fixed, iPad/Mercedes, screen doesn't do it for me. I much prefer being able to pop the screen up when I need it, or de-clutter when I don't. Being an Aston it will always draw an admiring crowd. Personally the front and rear views don't have the same wow factor the side view does. But each to their own.

When they designed it they had some "Germans" in mind. Venturist said:
To give a more verbose counter to all the negativity that keeps getting expressed on here as if it were universal, new Vantage is only the second car I’ve ever felt utterly compelled to buy new. Its exterior form blew my mind upon first viewing, the first Aston since DBS that I truly lusted after, and I think lust is needed for such a car. Voluptuous curves, yet razor sharp in the right places; classical proportions and features in a modern cut; aggressive and bold, but the classical elements keep a lid on the brashness so it doesn’t inspire ire in the public like some of the more ostentatious competition... it felt like very much a new breed stylistically, and that appealed to me - I’m a little anarchist, so in a way I find it satisfying that half of the Old Guard hate it
Interiors aren’t really something I ever get particularly excited about, but Vantage’s looked just as lovely as I expect from an Aston (especially in my Copper Tan spec as per the red launch car), I remember liking the toggle switches and all controls falling nicely to hand - and all the Mercedes inherited interfaces and electronics give me a confidence that they’ll behave well and won’t feel like a let down, which older Aston stuff could.
I cannot wait to take delivery of mine.

Oh my! That does look stunning! The more toned-down example parked in Gaydon a month ago also looked very nice.
Their lime green launch is a symbolic link to their racing team and I think it was a brave statement that it’s was a completely new car and direction.
Whether I hindsight it really suits the new Vantage is debatable but I’m glad they tried.
