FYI, I bought a set of the HSM Precision pads and bars for my 2007 V8 Vantage. With these, it's easy to lift one side of the car at a time and then lower the pads onto jack stands. Lifting the opposite side has been very secure, since the pads slot into the top of the jack stands.

My favorite part is that the pads have a pin on top with a rubber o-ring. By removing the rubber plugs in the Aston at each jacking point, the whole assembly (F and R pads plus connecting bar) can be held in place by the pins while you maneuver the jack below the middle jacking pad. Super quick and easy.

I sympathize with the tax and shipping issues. In the U.S., we (thankfully!) don't have VAT, and the shipping costs weren't too bad.

Wonder if a universal one could be made, looks pretty simple, but I imagine there's more to it than some box section steel and 3 blocks...

Dave,

The aluminum pads are very precisely machined to match up with the openings at the jacking points, the space for the bar, and the tops of the jack stands. I don't think it would be easy to do on your own.

Hi Dave,

Thanks to Rick for showing the jack bars. They are specifically for the V8V coupe, and not universal.

The problem is that the jack point are different between each variant of the vehicle, and made worse by the small area the central lift point has to push against. It lands on an area of the frame that is probably 3/4 of an inch wide, otherwise, it hits the plastic sill cover. I have a design partially complete for a DB9, but am pretty much stalled by the center section.

By universal, I meant for most other cars with a sill seam weld.

2x2in box section, slit down the middle along its length, neoprene layer to avoid metal to metal. Cylindrical tube at each end, gusseted to the box, to sit in Jack stands, job jobbed.

Has anyone used him to make pads for a 2013 Vanquish? I'd be interested in a pair as I've booked my car to have two wheels repaired and it'll be sitting on jacks while they're being done.

The pads I bought for my V8Vantage coupe fit perfectly on my DB11. What a nice surprise.

I bought a generic BMW pad from him a couple of years ago - looked "near enough" for my Vantage and certainly better than nothing. Been using it ever since, cost less than a fiver smile

I want to let everyone know that the jack pads I got from Matt for my V8Vantage coupe also work perfectly for my DB11.

Suggestions for a pad solution for these very welcome. The car is due for its first service at the main dealer on July 30th and I am unsure if they care about this problem when jacking up.

MY13 look like that too. For the front, its narrow but seems possible depending on the tire shop or auto shops' lifts and jacks and how they fit it.

What confuses me is the rear. If the black circle area is indeed where the jack point is in the back, how do they expect anyone to lift it up WITHOUT damaging the sills that wrap around it or the black plastic part?

two sheds is correct - the rear points are the same as the roadster. The fronts can be either Vantage Coupe, or DB9 (DB9 has the pin slightly closer to the edge of the column of the jack pad). (The roadster has a front undertray that requires extra relief on the jack pad).

I saw the car lifted in my main dealer´s workshop in July and talked to them about it. They use no special jacking pad. Instead the jacking "pad" of the lift itself is made of very soft rubber and as far as I was able to examine the sills afterwards there seemed to be no damage done to them. But I do need to take a closer look and I don´t consider the problem solved, at least not with regard to jacking situations outside my main dealer.
