Very interesting, option 3 best to my eye but I think Aston may have got it right with this one.

Apparently. That said, I looked at the DBS on display at the Silverstone Classic, and none of the cars on the line save the Zondas had the manufacturer’s name on the back. And to drop the wings at the rear of their ‘halo’ car completely is just crazy.

I don't.
I would have thought it's blatantly obvious. I debated this recently with a friend who works for AML and he said that recently the was n the USA and 90% of punters don't recognise the AM wings on a car.

Don’t think the rear end looks quite right so i’d have the name replaced by a badge, other than that would have one at the drop of a lottery ticket.

Yes i think that would be an easy job.
Except I dont think it is! - at least not to do it right. Wherever wings are fitted on Aston’s there is a wing shaped depression in the panel in which it sits. Not sure how easy it would be to get Aston/ Q to make that mod to a panel; and if they can’t/ won’t, then just sticking it on wouldn’t sit right for me.

Admittedly I own a classic Aston but are you certain about that? Looks like it's the case on the nose but not on the tail.

So their marketing strategy becomes pander to the lowest demoninator and throw everything the owners cherish out of the window so they can sell to the person who sees one of their special cars and asks what’s that? This is worse than the Bez era.

Except that the winged badge is usually recessed into an indentation - which doesn't exist on the DBS. Not such an easy job if you want to follow that approach.

Whatever. Simpleton me thinks it would be far better to raise brand/wing awareness than forget the past and start again.

Are you referring to the famous grille shape, the side stakes (both of which are registered designs), and the wings badge ?

Okay, but come on, if they want to become profitable rather than bumble from bankruptcy to bust every 10 years they need to sell cars in the US and China. I agree, and I also hate the Aston name on the tail gate but it's not going to spoil my appreciation of the car and if I were to buy one I am sure Q could sort it for me, even if the wings were not in a shaped depression; it would be even more retro because neither are they on my DB.

I wasn’t, no, since only the wings have been on all the cars in one shape or the other.

Been looking for a mockup image with a slated grille, but couldn't find one, so I quickly knocked these up on PS. It's the grille from the One-77. Better or worse?

First is as per the One-77, second is a darker version, and third is the darker with slightly toned-down vertical slats.

And here's the above with a front plate..

Oh, and the original grille;

It's still the silver nostril hair that bothers me the most. I think its a couple of radiators poking through, they should really be black to match the grill.

Just get a wings sticker made and slap it on. Not only would this be as exclusive as the amazingly expensive Porsche lightweight option but you couldn’t get more “Superleggera”. Slap it on hard enough and you also get the recess impression for free. Everybody’s a winner.

I tweaked the nostril hair to match the black of the grills, only on my phone so not the best version of photoshop.
