I know a lot of members here already got early previews of DBS Superleggera,
but for those who weren't so fortunate, like mefrown,
one of the early viewers revealed that the new DBS will have 715 HP and 900 NM of torque...
900 NM is more than F12 or 812 Superfast (which has 718 NM)

A spy video showcasing the exhaust note!
The official unveil will probably take place on June 26

200 nm advantage in torque over the closest rival is no small thing, yet I think people will be persuaded by the 812's NA V12. Then again Aston's design might be its USP, those of have seen it and commented online all seem to think it's 'a game changer' or 'stunning' etc. Although one thing I worry about is if the DBS carries over the DB11's interior, which I think is the DB11's weakest link.

Wish Aston would tease it more since the reveal is suppose to happen by the end of the month.

My dealer have the unveil on Sun 17th, I’m going but am slightly miffed it’s on the 24hr weekend. They have said they’ll be a fancy barista coffee morning so maybe they’re counting on a lot of no sleepers being there, I’ll take the SLR but no doubt most will have seen it by then 👍🏻

I like the interior on the 11 just not that damn screen, if it’s got that on display permanently I’ll be a little dissapointed, it’ll probably sway me to a Vanq or down the heritage AM route in a couple of years

I think David, that we are now in an era, where every newly introduced car will have a screen.
Some are integrated well into the dashboard (e.g. S-Class), but Aston Martin have up to now, been in the 'we stuck it on as an afterthought' category.

We must be sympathetic to all those new younger buyers that AP wants. Most youngsters give the impression, that they cannot remain alive without having a screen to look at. wink

Recently some Test Match cricket players (not England of course) were spotted wearing internet connected watches during play. It was then realised, that they can do more than show the time, and might be receiving coaching advice from someone off the field. Oops.

I believe we are allowed to talk about it on 6th June which is Wednesday so not long to go now!

The BHP and Torque numbers mentioned here are accurate. My first statement when I found out was - "oh so Aston making a 4 wheel drive system?" but nope, personally I don't see how power can be delivered through the rear wheels with that power and torque even with the massive 325 rear tyres. Will be interesting to see "rear world" performance!

I completely agree Jon, that said I'm 36 and maybe old and grouchy before my time smile
The tech is out there to do this in a better way than the plonked on iPad look, for instance I'v seen analogue gauges with a transparent digital overlay demo'd which gives the best of both worlds. However I completely understand that AM aren't the position to chase and prototype these things, choosing the AMG gear was a no brainer and a good move because it amongst the best in class.

Looking ahead, I can't imagine how all these lcd panels will look when they get dead pixels in 10 years time. It's interesting to see that other cars, take an old M3 for example, less loaded with tech, satNavs, phone support etc are fetching more money than the cars that were loaded up.

Anyway, back on topic, I can't wait to see the new DBS given how much I love it's predecessor biggrin

36 years old eh! I was busy paying the bills at that age and never gave Aston Martins a thought. Probably a good job really, because I hear the DBS of those days was rather like driving a lorry. They might be valuable now, but I do like to enjoy my keepers. Getting interested when the V8V was around, turned out to be exactly right for me.

At 36, I think you are in AP's target market for the new Vantage. I won't ask. smile

It looks as though the new DBS will certainly be a powerful car. Pretty expensive too I expect (£250,000 ?), but if it is beautiful then it certainly should sell. Obviously not one of the present two 'core' models, so being in the upper price segment, volumes will be modest.

Do you buy new David, or might you wait for a 2 to 3 year old DBS Superleggera 40% off bargain?

I don’t think it’s excwptionally good looking. If anything it looks like a Jaguar F type (not a bad thing) but it’s not what it call jaw dropping.

no, helps stay in touch with bookies and match fixers so they know exactly when to bowl a no ball etc and get best odds on their game results!! smile

wink - Funnily enough, I was on the point of writing just that in my piece Reg, but managed to resist.
As it turned out, I was acting the straight man for you.

Blimey... 325 rears. They’re massive. Even Porsche tend to stop at 305s. Should look immense.

What are the fronts? 285s?

Well you say that... just got a puncture today and noticed that my Vanquish S has 305's. So factor an extra 115bhp and insane torque with turbos and lower rev range I don't think 325's will cut it. I'm told the test diver could spin the rear wheels up in 4th gear....

My 'plan' has always been to spec a new AM before I am 40, the trouble with any plan/story are subplots and third parties, new house, kids, wedding etc smile

Probably the biggest spanner in the works at present is the crazy taxes levied on new cars in Holland, my current DBS for instance had 140,000 euros added on top of it's price when new. I imported her at 8 years old and paid just 10k of this. So a couple of things need to happen, a move back to the UK or some nice investments coming up trumps meaning I can just ignore that tax (I should be so lucky). It's an interesting one for me, the total cost of a new DBS over here could well see me into a good DB6. My guess is I'll somehow man math it in 4 years since and get into an Ultimate runout version.

Re: power delivery overpowering the rear tires and needing all-wheel drive... It's easy enough to limit torque in low gears by limiting the amount of boost the turbos are making in those low gears. I'd expect that to be the case with the DBS.

The Vanquish S had a torque restriction function in lower gears. As you say, turbo engines are actually easier to manage in that respect as the power delivery can be manipulated on a more intricate level (boost and fuel curves set relative to throttle position, steering angle etc), so it's logical to assume something similar might feature on the DBS.

In terms of outright traction, the tweaks to the DB11 that made the AMR, look to have fixed much of the mechanical traction issues, so they're on the right path with it - everything I've heard from those who've driven it (in test mule form) is positive.

I want an analogue dash. Andrew Frankels road test in Motor Sport of the new Bentley Continental made the same point . Why change something that works well. I bought an new Astra GTE with a fancy electronic dash as I thought it was wonderful and 6 months later sold it for a new GTI as I hated the dash and you couldn’t read it on a sunny day. I’m now worried they will transfer the DB11 dash over. I’m saving my pennies to swop the Vantage for a Vanquish as that’s everything an Aston Martin should be in my old farts opinion.
I hope I’m wrong and AM and AP have taken note of many comments about the dashboards on the new Vantage and DB 11 with too many buttons and screens, but I’m not putting my pension on it.
