New DBS Superleggera
Discussion
The Zagatos do nothing for me. The originals on which they are based are much nicer and at some point people will see through this marketing stunt. The DBS on the other hand is a proper Aston bought by real brand enthusiasts rather than speculators.

Something keeps on playing on my mind with the DBSS... as with current trends, everything is exposed carbon fibre or "piano black" (since when did "gloss black" get taken over by Steinway & Sons?). Wheels, vents, diffusers, grilles, etc., etc.
I wanted to see what the DBSS would look like if spec'd a bit more cheerfully. The cant rails only have black or CF finish options, but thankfully the roof panel can be body coloured.
So I wound up Photoshop and had a 5 min play...
I know the front arch vents look chrome - I'd prefer a bit more of an anodised aluminium look to go with the cant rails.
I tried to see what the grille would look like in silver, but it was too much.
Not that fussed with the Y-spoke alloy design. There's much nicer (IMHO) 10 spoke lightweights, but they aren't offered in silver as standard and I couldn't be bothered masking the spokes in Photoshop.
Still can't quite perfect the interior. I don't have a problem with the basic architecture overall, but perhaps there's too much going on with the door cards. I'm sure a bit more judicious speccing would help.

This DBS Supperleggera is for me simply the most handsome and imposing Aston road going car they have ever built. Monstrously fast with phenomenal power it has the same torque to weight ratio as the Vulcan, this car will propel you from 0 to 100mph in 6.4 secs,,,,, mind numbing. Aston Martin call it a Super GT, so far I haven't seen a single review that challenges that, on the contrary, they endorse it.

.... if only it didn´t have rear lights directly taken from the Cayenne What a shame: With the 997.2/991 Porsche more or less copied the beautiful Vantage tail light design and now it´s the other way round.

Handsome and imposing are not two words that necessarily go together Bob. Certainly imposing but handsome, not so sure. I agree it's the best of the current bunch but to my eyes these Reichman designs do not compete with Ian Calum's beatuful creations. So, if I was to pitch a car in response to justify my position, I'd say the original Vanquish is equally imposing and a far better looking design. Ok, so it's not as fast but that's not everything and if I was pitching any modern Aston against your DBSS I'd play the Vanquish. Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
