Odd post. You don't have to come on here to justify your decision. Enjoy your new car confused

If you’re happy with it (and I would be!) then you haven’t made a mistake. But you know that already

Now can we have some photos of it please!

This forum certainly makes for some very interesting reading, opinions on the new range of Astons are like Belly buttons , it seems that everyone has one.

I have taken the plunge and traded my 2017 Vanquish on the new DBSS Tag Edition.

When I was invited to the dealership for a preview, I spent the whole previous night convincing myself why I don't want it, and why I don't need it, then when the covers were removed all my reasoning went out the door, I was in love again.

Sure the interior mightn't be everyones cup of tea, but, I didn't buy it for everyone, I bought it for me. Yes the interior is not as lavish as the latest Bentley but I didn't want a Bentley. It mightn't be technology packed as the latest Porsche but I didn't want a Porsche.

Some people will say the Vanquish was a better car with better styling, I guess its the whole Belly button thing, but the only option that I really care about is mine because its my car .

Take care I will read with interest why I made a huge mistake
I think you have made the right decision to buy the dbss. Its a cracking car. These toys we buy are for us, not others. Not that my opinion matters at all lol.

Who are we to argue on your choice of car?
I love the Vanquish, also love the DBSS, no bad choice between those two I guess!
Enjoy!

I was really enamoured by the new Bentley and I think the V8 is going to be amazing. If I was running Aston I'd spend a few quid to improve the DBS interior, maybe a folding/hiding infotainment screen; but it also needs some newer tech like rear-wheel-steering for better handling and dynamic cruise control for more relaxed GT'ing.
Test drove the new Bentley Continental and then you really see and feel "wow, this is really a high end car", something the new AMs lack imho. The DSG transmission is very good, and the car drives very "agile" (big difference from the older ones). I feel also too young for a Bentley now, but if it was the V8 instead of the W12, I probably had bought it right away! (V8 wil be there coming months in the Americas, but here in EU we have to wait for early 2020).

Happily the exterior of the new DBSS is superb, but the interior (and the lack of a decent DSG/MCT/PDK transmission) prevented me to take the jump now. Let's hope both are fixed next model year (when also the DBSS Volante will be there).
Just fyi. Porsche dictated that the Bentley is a Panamera platform, hence low torsional rigidity with air suspension to suit. The heavy/bulky DSG adds weight to an already hefty Bentley build. Because of extra weight, and extra torque from the Bentley engine, the DSG will likely be problematic. There is still a new Bentley chugging around a proving ground [covered in ducting and tubes], trying to meet emissions standards for various regions. Its a very tough time for Bentley!
Save your money, and buy a Panamera.
Oh, and the ZF 8-speed automatic in the Astons, is a lightweight/compact bombproof match for the DSG. The shift speed/quality are fantastic.

Also, on the Conti that I drove, there was no way to force the DSG to remain on paddles. It seemed to revert to an auto setting if you hadn't used the paddles in a while. Admittedly it was a late development car rather than a production model, so that might not be the final spec.

Previous pictures of the Tag Heuer edition didn't do it for me, I'm not a big fan of blacked-out cars, but seeing the matte-carbon roof and strakes I've come around, maybe not a spec I'd go for but still very striking.

I watched the MrJWW tour of the Koenigsegg factory, Christian talked about their new gearing technology, if I was Andy Palmer and I could get a licence for the tech at the right price I'd jump at the chance, is sounds like the best of all worlds and could be used across the range.

My Vanquish was Blacked out and I vowed that the DBS would be different, but as soon as the cover was removed I was sold, even the Red Stipe Wheels was never going to happen but somehow, to me at least it suits the package, here's a pic of its rear that shows off the Matt Carbon roof

Had a PDC in the DBSS today, what a car.... since it’s launch I’ve been captivated by its looks. Sure the centre console is a bit dull and probably won’t date well. That said, I am so impressed with no juts the brute force and the way it puts the power down, but what impressed me the most is how small and chuckable that car is, it’s simply astonishing. Given its size and weight, even on the alpine and handling circuits (for those that have been), I felt like I was driving a 718 not a monsterous v12. Blew me away....
