Reversing uphill V12V (clutch wear.)

No! Give me the lower gear any day and help preserve my clutch. I cope ok with the power going forwards, so I’d take the risk equally in reverse!!
I agree, I would love back up my driveway, but never do it. I backed uphill once, very short distance, brand new V8V and could smell the clutch burn. It is really unacceptable the things that Aston had years to sort out, but never did. AstonV said:

"I agree, I would love back up my driveway, but never do it" - for the first year that I had the V8V I had a steep driveway that I had no choice other than to reverse up - being a sportshift it would either stall if revs too low or spin the wheels if revs to high - or occasionally I got it just right and it moved smoothly up the drive. The clutch smell was never pleasant and worried me considerably. However, that was 5 years and 30,000 miles ago and the same clutch is still going strong with no sign of a need for replacement. These cars are perhaps tougher than we sometimes believe.
