Nice write up Dean, I've got to drop my car in for a service in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully I can get out in the new Vantage and the V8 DB11.

The photos with both cars next to each other really show the two are related and share similar DNA.

Timeless, beautiful, understated and with a hint of class. Unfortunately, we have always known the design is an unbeatable combination.
So difficult to follow.

Thanks Dean. Great photos and road test report.

Oof what a thing. Just look at it. Razor sharp, unapologetically modern, sinuous and curvaceous in a classical way. Makes the lovely old Vantage look positively prehistoric all of a sudden.

My build starts any day now and I’ve a test drive tomorrow. Can’t wait biggrin

We did comment that side by side it shows the age of the old Vantage. Thankfully there`s a GPS update with "Avoid New Vantage" so no worries.

Thank you very much! smile

Not much will block the view new Vantage for long. How`d you spec it or are you keeping it under wraps?

Fairly traditional spec because I think the bodywork is aggressive enough without needing gaudy colours and add-ons too, so lightning silver with no carbon, painted roof and side panel; with a copper tan interior for a luxury twist, black interiors never look anything much special to me. Then all the toys like quad exhaust (dealer fit, my car is too early for factory fit frown ), premium audio, 360 camera etc etc etc.

Great write up Dean, you have a way with words as well as with the camera. It was a pleasure to meet you and I hope to be down your way later this year for a guided tour.

It's a completely ridiculous comment, and a superb example of the habit many journalists have of attributing fabricated "flaws" to an outgoing model that didn't exist -- according to their own reviews of those outgoing models.
Interesting to see that so many posting here do not share the same view as the Autocar tester.

On the other hand, I agree with him. I am almost 6' 3". Perhaps I am longer in the torso than the 6' 2" fellow who posted above, but I constantly have wished that the seats in my current and previous Vantages were set lower. In fact, I can say pretty much the same of any car I have ever driven, except some SUVs. I wonder, does that make me "ridiculous" as well?

That will look great I`m sure, and I think possibly the full carbon treatment will be a bit OTT on these too. I`m really looking forward to seeing photos of the different colours and specs when people start receiving them, so don`t be shy! wink

Venturist - that is precisely how I will be speccing mine. Im not a fan of exposed carbon or cheap-looking gloss black which is also a nightmare to keep looking fresh. I am going to go with the standard graphite painted sills, front etc. I have seen the graphite and it looks good - check out the first ride Shmee150 did in a silver Vantage as that has this option: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtPOXNSAciM

The Copper Tan should look good and is my 1st choice. Any concerns with windscreen reflections? I'm going with a black steering wheel, again, for ease of maintenance.

Sports Plus seats are a must as they are so comfortable. 360 deg camera - double tick.

Not sure on the Sports exhaust as the standard exhaust does sound good. Don't want to compromise refinement in exhaust note. There is an option for a quad pipe but not 100% if this incorporates the Sports System or if it is just aesthetic. Do you have any more info on it????

Not sure again in the Premium Sound option (would like to know the brand of components and quality first).

Would like a proper metal finish option to centre stack and sides (instead of CF or painted plastic).

Would like a darkened rear glass option a la Mercedes but not sure if Aston offer this. If they did it would look great.

Good choice on the silver. I had a factory visit last week with lots of new Vantage going down the assembly line. The silver brings out more curves as it reflects the light, particularly the bonnet shape. The Lime Essence is too strong and it tends to flatten the shape.

A VERY bright orange one there too, somebody is bold.

Even like the traditional grill treatment..

Good marketing stuff:
The New Vantage, a successor to the DB4GT Zagato!
Funny AML didn't come up with that!

Some great reviews in this thread... i think i'll have to go and test one.

As an ex-AMG owner (6.2l C63, perf pack) and a V12VSM with AMR upgrades owner.. it'l be an interesting experience. I think AMG engine is no bad thing, personally - if you could pick any engine to borrow (when you accept borrowing one was essential) it's the best of the bunch.

I'm not sure if the new Vantage is an ownership proposition for current V12VSM/AMR owners, at least in it's current form - but maybe i'll be surprised by it.

Not entirely relevant but kinda... went out with a pal in his amg gtr yesterday. Holy crap it is a beast. Fair play to mercedes for creating an absolute monster. Got back into my db9 and it felt like an armchair and slippers range rover by comparison lol.

Reason for posting is the amg exhaust trickery. Its loud and crackles and pops all over the place. Its fun for the first few minutes but quickly became tiresome, and migraine evoking I imagine on long journeys. Much prefer the wind up and howl of the V12 over the acoustically enhanced V8.
