I’ve just placed an order with Auto Doc. They have an additional 15% off for this weekend if anyone is thinking of ordering.

The prices have changed a little since Rancid’s earlier post but it’s not too far off.

I tried looking at mister auto but they didn’t recognise my numberplate. On checking, Aston Martin isn’t available in the manufacturers parts list.

Got the scales out..........disks are 12.4 kg each!
wonder how much weight the ceramic disks would save?

I have some composite discs on one of my motorcycles and compared to OE they are featherweight....

The autodoc prices change daily with between 12 and 25% off every day. If you install the mobile app, it tells you each day what the daily sale is!

Or even the two piece disk as fitted to the V8S, which would presumably be somewhere between the two.

As an update, the front pads I bought (Stark) are still excellent, so well worth the savings from my point of view.
Good to hear as after your recommendation I went with them as well, thanks.
That's great - did you fit them yourself or have them fitted? Either way did you (or a mechanic) have any issues with the sensors?

My guys mentioned they were fractionally different, but still fitted perfectly, they didn't elaborate on how or why they were different

Will be fitting them myself, just need to find the time. Will report back on how I got on.

Ok all done, Brembo disks and Stark pads as above.

I've only changed the disks for cosmetic reasons, when I bought car the dealer had sprayed the whole disk Silver including the friction surfaces! and in the process managed to get overspray onto some of the suspension. I'm assuming this is common practice by main dealers to just tart it up for sale. It's something that has always bugged me, and needless to say 6 years on things are looking a little worse for wear.

Tip if you don't have a impact driver.......remove the T40 Torx screws in the disk before removing the caliper, as you can then get someone to press the brake pedal to stop the disk rotating.

New pads came with wear indicators which don't fit the Aston, if you're careful the old ones can be reused by gently levering out of the slot, don't pull on the wire, they look ok when cleaned up.

The issue your garage may have been referring to is that the pads are not handed, now this isn't a problem on the offside but on the nearside it means that you can't load the pad with the sensor at the bottom, and loading with the sensor at the top makes the cable too short to engage in the slot on the caliper. I opted to just fold the excess cable over and then cable tied it to itself.

I'd be interested to know if yours is the same? Check the nearside caliper, and see if the cable is engaged in the slot or not. If it is they may have opted to extend the cable length. You should be able to see it though the wheel.

So with everything cleaned up, overspray removed and arches cleaned/dressed we end up with this

Been out and done a bedding in exercise, all seems good so far. Need to do the rear ones now.

Am going through the same process, but the T40 torx screw are so tight I can't get them out. I'm worried I'll round the pattern in the head as its starting to twist rather than unscrew

Any tips?

Yes I had one that I couldn’t remove, it was on the first wheel where I had already removed the caliper and just couldn’t hold the disk to undo the bolt.

I tried drilling it and using an “easy out” bolt remover but it still wouldn’t budge. In the end I just kept going up in drill size being very careful to keep it level. It eventually just fell out, without any damage to the thread. Luckily they supply new bolts with the disks.

On the second wheel with the caliper in place, they came out easy with a breaker bar.

Will be investing in an impact driver before tackling the rear disks.

Just thought I'd give an update in prices on this thread.
I've just purchased OEM Brembo Discs (front and rear) from Autodoc for £260.74 delivered.
I got front & rear EBC RED pads from Ebay for £214.98 delivered.
The Parking Brake pads should be fine.
Sensor cables are all good.
Labour to fit all this is free (i.e. ME) so all in it'll cost £475.92 for a full service of the brake system.

The Autodoc price changes at least twice a day every day and I downloaded their App to get an even keener price. I waited over 3 months for the price to drop nice and low before pressing the button.

Utterly incredible price. I thought I did well at double that.

Top tip when fitting the new discs - the new torx screws can sometimes stand very slightly proud of the mounting face. If this happens you will end up with a wheel shimmy that can only be traced by replacing the discs (and you may get the same again). You'd be forever chasing a very expensive tail.

To prevent this, you need to file off sufficient from the head of the screw so that it sits flush or slightly in.

They may not stand proud, but forewarned etc.

Had my annual service on Monday and front discs and pads got an 'advise' mention, but with my current mileage there's probably a year or two left in them. paperbag
I was under the impression the bits were a lot more expensive than this, just done a quick price check and £150 for front discs seems very reasonable, I'll probably not DIY it but glad to know the bits are cheaper than I expected. rotate

I've ordered Brembo front discs and Brembo front pads from Autodoc this week - £245 inc post.

They say this includes VAT so I'm hoping I won't get hit with additional fees when they arrive (post Brexit).

For the wheel retaining screws, I was going to order the "correct" ones from AM - they're probably the only Aston part you can pick up for pennies instead of pounds!

Do you guys re-use the existing spring clips / pins, caliper bolts, and wear sensors ?

I'd re-use them all unless they have corroded badly or they no longer do the job they are supposed to do....

BTW, the Sensors don't have to be AM. I bought one from Ebay a few years ago for £3.50 and spliced it in. Does the job just fine. Saved £20 a corner.

Frentech do calliper rebuild kits on eBay. Top notch quality and saves re-using rusty pins etc. They're a fraction of the price from other vendors.

Have a read of my caliper thread, but don't blame me if you get carried away ! https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
